Purpose This paper analyzes the general data of the suicide attempt patients in a large general hospital,finds out the characteristics and rules of the suicide of the patients,and analyzes the insufficient management of the suicide of the patients,so as to formulate the management strategy of he suicide attempt patients in the general hospital and prevent the patients from committing suicide again.MethodsThis study collected through retrospective analysis in January 2008 to January 2018 the patient care safety registration(report)table of adverse events in hospitalized patients suicide safety adverse event data and case information,detailed statistical attempted suicide in patients with sex,age,occupation,marital status,family household register,cultural degree,time of suicide,suicide location,length of hospital stay,disease diagnosis,inpatient department,etc.,using the Excel software to collect and analysis.Using focus group interview method,the team leader of the suicide prevention research group established by the hospital gathered the head nurse,bed doctor and primary nurse of the ward where the inpatients with attempted suicide were located,as well as the members of the suicide prevention group and the postgraduate members of the research group for joint analysis and discussion.The group leader participated in the chairing of the meeting and interviewed the relevant personnel.Semi-structured interviews were used to enable the group members to express their ideas and opinions,point out the safety risks and omissions of suicide among inpatients,and put forward practical and operable suicide prevention and management strategies for inpatients with attempted suicide.Results 1.Basic information of hospitalized patients with attempted suicide: a total of 33 patients.There were 19 females and 14 males.Education: 4 cases in primary school,14 cases in junior high school,6 cases in high school/technical secondary school,9 cases in junior college or above.Occupation: property management 1 case,teacher 1 case,student 2 cases,worker 2 cases,cadre 3 cases,retired 3 cases,farmer 4 cases,unemployed 9 cases,other 8 cases.Household registration: there were 12 agricultural household registration and 21 urban household registration.Marriage: 3 unmarried,25 married,2 divorced,3 widowed.Hospitalization duration ranged from 1 day to 53 days,with an average of 21.85 days.2.Analysis of characteristics of inpatients with attempted suicide: female patients were more than male patients,and the ratio of male to female patients was about 0.74:1.The minimum age was 18 years old,the maximum age was 77 years old,and the average age was 51.06 years old.According to the order of age composition ratio,there were 16 cases of young people,9 cases of middle aged people,and 8 cases of old people.There were no juvenile suicide attempts in hospital.Time of suicide: 20 cases from 22:00 to 6:00,7 cases from 8:00 to 12:00,5 cases from 15:00 to 20:00,1 case from 21:00 to 22:00,no suicide at other time points.The suicide methods were 14 cases of wrist cutting,9 cases of jumping off a building,3 cases of swallowing diazepam in large quantity,2 cases of hanging,2 cases of neck cutting,2 cases of throwing lake and 1 case of taking large amount of pain-relieving tablets.Patients in the department by the many to the few were in oncology 8 cases,gastrointestinal surgery 4 cases,cardiac surgery 3 cases,orthopaedic 3 cases,liver and gallbladder surgery 2 cases,infection department 2 cases,endocrinologist 2 cases,hematology department 2 cases,interventional department 2 cases,gynecology 1 case,respiratory medicine 1 case,obstetrics 1 case,vascular surgery 1 case,cardiology icu 1 case.3.As for the management strategy of inpatients with attempted suicide,five related topics were obtained: suicide prevention knowledge training,suicide risk assessment,implementation of psychological care,safe and effective management,and improvement of social support.Conclusion 1.Female patients with attempted suicide in hospital are more than male patients,and the population is mostly middle-aged.The time of suicides is more from 22:00 to 6:00.Wrist cutting was the main method of suicide,and oncology was the most common department where the patients were.2.The hospitalized patients suicide phenomenon has become a serious problem which cannot be ignored,the impact of a wide range,not only cause serious psychological burden for families of patients,medical staff on duty at the same time and his roommate caused by trauma,could lead to medical disputes and even affect the reputation of the hospital,it should be paid attention during the height of the medical staff.The hospital should establish suicide prevention group and hold suicide prevention seminar regularly.Improve the content of suicide prevention training,strengthen suicide prevention knowledge of medical staff;Establish a suicide risk assessment mechanism to effectively identify patients at high risk of suicide;Establish treatment alliance,strengthen therapeutic communication and nursing;Master the coping measures after suicide attempt to ensure the personal safety of patients;Standardize the environmental safety management system and strictly implement it;Improve the social support degree of patients,strengthen the health education and follow-up work and other aspects of the implementation of management,prevent suicide again,as early as possible to achieve the hospital "zero suicide" dream.
