BACKGROUND: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a clinical pathology in the absence of alcohol consumption and it is characterized by fatty drops accumulation in the liver cells, indicating extensive liver damage, from the leakage of pure fat infiltration to inflammation(non-alcoholic fatty liver disease [NASH],cirrhosis and liver cirrhosis.According to the World Gastroenterology Organization's global guidelines(2012)and population-based researches from different countries,NAFLD has become the most common cause of liver disease in the world.Over the past two decades,China experienced rapid economic growth and aging of its population and lifestyle changes.NAFLD has increased among Chinese people as many studies conducted inside China reported.AIM AND OBJECTIVES: This study is aimed to identify if there is relationship between LSM and CAP score levels among patients with NAFLD in first Hospital of Jilin University attended in one-year period Objectives: To look for if there is relationship with CAP score levels and LSM level. To find prevalence of patients with abnormal CAP score level, particularly with those severe abnormality. And also,to find prevalence of liver stiffness among the patients. To look if high LSM levels and high level of CAP score are predicted by BMI,age, and gender. To compare difference between abnormal CAP score cases with those normal CAP score level METHOD AND MATERIALS: Case of 12089 patients examined at First Hospital of Jilin University was retrospectively collected and reviewed from Fibro-touch machine of the fist hospital in Changchun,China. And data was analyzed through SPSS software.Variables collected from the Fibro-touch have been merely used in this research such age, gender,BMI,LSM levels,CAP score, height and weight.RESULTS: Over all cases, men numbered 7130(59%)while female was 4959(41%).The mean age of both genders was 47.5 ±12.217.the mean age of the man in all data was 45.9 ±11.8 yrs.while female, their mean age was 49.8 ±12.3yrs,the difference was statistically significant with p value<0.001 in independent t test. The mean height in both groups was 167.33 ±7.9 cm,between groups, the mean height of men was 171.7±6 cm,and the mean height of the females was 161.1±5.7 cm,this difference was also statistically significant with p<0.001.Differences were also existed in weight and BMI,where men have higher weight of 72.2±12.6 kg and BMI of 24.4±3.8,compared with women's weight of 60.8±10.5 and BMI of 23.3±3.6 with statistically significant of P<0.001.The mean of BMI and weight in all cases were 24.1±3.8 and 67.8±12.9,respectively.Women have values of 222.9±35.3in CAP score and LSM measurement with value of 9.3±5 kpa and men were having 231.5±37 and LSM of 9.8±5.2 with p<0.001.In all cases we used independent t test to look the significance of difference between females and Males, the point of interest was the difference between them in CAP levels and LSM levels. It showed that men had higher values than female groups where men are also younger than women in this study based on mean of the age of the two groups.Patients with abnormal CAP score were 3871 and they comprise 31.3% of the whole cases,so the prevalence of fatty liver during period of November 2016 to December 2017 was 31.3% and the prevalence of patients with severe CAP score level during that period was 30.1% with count of 1137 cases.A Pearson product-moment correlation was conducted to examine the relationship between LSM scores and abnormal CAP score. The result showed that Abnormal CAP positively correlate to LSM levels,r(3779)=.477,p<0.001.One way Anove has been taken to examine if there is difference in mean between groups of liver fibrosis and it showed that there was significant difference among the groups,f(4,3986)=183.49,with p value <0.001.Post hoc testing further detailed that F4 were different than all groups with p vaue<0.001.Majority of the cases had abnormal BMI,as patients with ?30 were 24.7%,and those 25-29.9 were 33.4% and group(<25)with percent of 39.3%.Bivariate linear regression was conducted to examine how BMI could predict CAP score. The regression formula for predicting CAP score from BMI was ? =197.5+2.753(X).that means every one unit increases in the BMI,CAP score will increase in 2.753.the r2 for this equation was.236,that means 23.6% of variance in CAP score levels were predictable from the BMI.And we also categorize the age group into five groups and most of patients were men middle aged patients, although most patients of Abnormal CAP score level were men but after age greater than 55,the female predominate. And We also found that In this study, age strongly positively correlate with Liver stiffness than CAP,with result of Liver stiffness r =.129,p<0.001 than CAP r =.039,p=0.017.CONCLUSION: In this study we have found that age, gender,BMI plays risk factors for both high LSM levels and high CAP score levels, and we also found that patients with severe high LSM levels have high CAP score than with those who don't have so it shows that there was close association between high LSM levels and CAP score levels.
