Objective:The purpose of this study is to observe the clinical effica cy of Zengye Runchang Tongfu Decoction in the treatment of func tional constipation(intestinal dryness and deficiency syndrom e),objectively evaluate its effectiveness and safety, and furt her explore the mechanism of Zengye Runchang Tongfu Decoction i n the treatment of functional constipation,so as to provide cl inical reference for the treatment of functional constipation.Methods:60 patients with chronic functional constipation(intestinal dryness and body fluid deficiency)who met the inclusion criter ia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,30 cases in each group. The treatment group was given Zengye Run chang Tongfu Decoction and the control group was given lactulos e for 4 weeks.Attention should be paid to observe and record th e symptoms of patients before and after treatment, and then stat istical analysis should be made to compare the total effective rate, the change of symptom score and the long-term curative ef fect of the two groups.During the treatment and follow-up peri od,the possible adverse reactions and side effects were closelyobserved.Results:1.Comparisons of symptoms and curative effects:After the co urse of treatment,5 cases were cured,17 cases were markedly eff ective,6 cases were effective,2 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 93.3%.In the control group,2 cases wer e cured,8 cases were markedly effective,13 cases were effective,7 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 76.7%.There was a significant difference between the two groups(p<0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was signific antly higher than that of the control group.2.Syndrome score comparison:The total score of symptoms aft er treatment in both groups was lower than that before treatmen t,indicating that both groups were effective for functional con stipation(p<0.05).The difference of the total score of symptoms between the two groups after treatment was statistically signi ficant(p<0.05),indicating that the improvement of symptoms in t he treatment group was significantly better than that in the co ntrol group;the single symptom score of the two groups after tr eatment was comparable in improving stool dryness, prolonging de fecation interval, painful defecation, less mouth dryness and men tal fatigue(p>0.05).The curative effect of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group in term s of restlessness, hot flashes and night sweats(p<0.05).3.Long-term efficacy comparison:one month after drug withdr awal,23 cases were followed up in the treatment group,4 cases d eteriorated,19 cases did not deteriorate, the long-term efficacy was 82.6%;17 cases were followed up in the control group,7 cases deteriorated,10 cases did not deteriorate, the long-term effi cacy was 58.6%.The long-term efficacy of the two groups was sig nificantly different(p<0.05).The long-term efficacy of the tre atment group was better than that of the control group.4.Safety evaluation:During the course of the study,no adver se reactions occurred in the two groups during the treatment an d follow-up period. No abnormalities were found in blood, urine,f eces, liver and kidney function and electrocardiogram in each gr oup before and after treatment. Conclusion:Zengye Runchang Tongfu Decoction is safe and effective in t reating functional constipation(intestinal dryness and deficien cy syndrome). It can not only significantly improve the symptoms of constipation, but also better control the recurrence. It is w orth further research and promotion.
