ObjectiveTo analyze the characteristics of family disease burden of caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia,and to analyze the influence of general information,social support level and stigma level on family disease burden of caregivers of children and adolescents,so as to provide clinical theoretical reference for promoting community mental health services.MethodsA questionnaire survey was conducted among the main family caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia in three hospitals.Survey contents include: general information questionnaire for children and adolescents with schizophrenia and their main family caregivers,family disease burden scale,social support rating scale and Internalized Stigma of Mental Iillness Inventory.Results1.The burden rate of family disease among caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia was 100%.2.The positive rates of family disease burden scale for caregivers ranged from high to low are: financial burden(69.15%),family daily activities(64.68%),family entertainment(64.18%),family relationship(59.20%),mental health of family members(51.24%)and physical health of family members(26.86%).3.The total score of the social support rating scale for caregivers was 31.92;the objective support score was 7.40;the subjective support score was 17.70;and the social support utilization score was 6.82.4.The total score of internal stigma of caregivers was 63.79;the score of alienation factor was 11.11;the score of stereotype endorsement factor was 14.63;the score of perceived discrimination factor was 13.62;the score of social withdrawal factor was 10.89;and the score of stigma resistance factor was 10.54.5.Age,relationship with patients,marital status,occupation,per capita monthlyincome,place of residence,and patients′ illness duration,adherence to medication,self-care level are the key factors for the total score of family disease burden of caregivers(P<0.05);Gender,age,relationship with patients,per capita monthly income,occupation,residence,and patients′ illness duration,adherence to medication,self-care level and family psychiatric history are the key factors for the total score of social support of caregivers(P<0.05);Gender,age,relationship with patients,marital status,occupation,income,care time,place of residence,and patients′ illness duration,adherence to medication,self-care level and family psychiatric history are the key factors for the total score of internal stigma of caregivers(P<0.05).6.The total score of family disease burden of caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia was negatively correlated with the dimensions of social support(P < 0.05),and positively correlated with the dimensions of internal stigma(P < 0.05).7.Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the main factors affecting the total score of family disease burden of caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia were: the average monthly income of caregivers,the total score of social support,the total score of stigma,and the degree of adherence to medication,course of illness and self-care of patients,which explained 64.9% of the variation of the total score of family disease burden.Conclusions1.The family disease burden of caregivers of children and adolescents with schizophrenia is at a medium level,and the burden is relatively heavy on the whole.2.The social support level of caregivers is generally below the middle level.3.Caregivers’ stigma level is generally moderate.4.Caregivers’ s per capita monthly income,social support,stigma and patients’ s medication compliance,course of disease and self-care level are the main influencing factors of total score of family disease burden.5.The total score of family disease burden of caregivers was negatively correlated with the dimensions of social support,and positively correlated with the dimensions of internal stigma.
