Objective:Foreign body in respiratory tract is one of the main causes of accidental injury in children. There is a certain relationship between the occurrence of this disease and the caretaker's way of care. This study analyzes the demographic characteristics of the patients, the demographic characteristics of the caretaker, family background, and health education, prevention awareness, feeding factors, etc.,to understand the weak aspects of caretaker of children with foreign bodies in respiratory tract, and provide evidence for the promotion of foreign bodies in respiratory tract.Research objects and methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 696 children who admitted in the otolaryngology department of Hunan Children's Hospital from June 2017 to February 2018.The case-control study was used. The caretaker of children with foreign bodies in respiratory tract who were taken the foreign body by rigid bronchoscopy detection was the case group,a total of 232 cases. The caretaker of children with non-respiratory foreign body was the control group,a total of 464 cases. The similarities and differences between the two groups of caretakers on demographic characteristics, family background, health education, prevention awareness, feeding factors are analyzed.Results:1.Foreign bodies in respiratory tract are more common in the right bronchus, accounting for 44.4%,and more common in plant foreign bodies. The age of the children in the case group was 3.02± 2.00 years old,and the age of the control group was 4.86± 2.79 years old.The age of caretaker in the case group was 35.90± 12.27 years old,and the age of caretaker in the control group was 33.30± 9.49 years old.The age of the children, children gender and caretaker age were statistically significant(p <0.05),and gender of caretakers was not statistically significant(p >0.05).2.Family background: The relationship between the caretaker and the relatives of the children, the educational level of the caretaker, the place of residence, the number of children in the family, and the time of companionship were statistically significant(p <0.05).3.Health education of the caretaker: the difference between the way to understand health education, whether they participated in feeding training, whether they knew the clinical manifestations of foreign bodies in respiratory tract was statistically significant(p<0.05).The difference between whether there was any first-aid training, whether they knew the risk of foreign body in respiratory tract, and whether they knew the first-aid measures was not statistically significant(p>0.05).4.Caretaker's prevention awareness: the difference between whether the snack was placed in a place that children could't reach, the children who eat while playing were not stopped, children put toys into the mouth or the nose were not blocked, etc.was not statistically significant(p >0.05).5.Feeding factors of the caretaker: There was no statistically significant difference(p >0.05)between the feeding of non-chewable foods for children who didn't have fully formed deciduous teeth, the use of feeding to stop crying, and the use of food that has been thrown into children's mouth. There was statistically significant difference(p <0.05)in whether children under 3 years old were accompanied by adults when eating.Conclusion:1.Foreign bodies in the respiratory tract are more common in the right bronchus, accounting for 44.4%.Plant-like foreign bodies are more common, and the age of children is 3.02± 2.00 years old.2.The age and gender of the children, the age of the caretaker, and the education level of the caregiver are obviously related to the disease. The older the age of caregiver, the lower the educational level, and the male child is more likely to have foreign body in the respiratory tract.3.Caretakers who are non-parents,live in non-urban areas, have a large number of children, and short companion times are more likely to cause foreign bodies in respiratory tract.4.If the caretakers of children who have not participated in feeding training,do not know the clinical manifestations of foreign bodies in the respiratory tract, and have no companion when children eat,the children are more likely to suffer from foreign bodies in the respiratory tract. The access to different health education has different effects on the occurrence of the disease.
