Objective:To describe the current situation of posttraumatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury, and explore the influencing factors of postraumatic growth. Methods:Quantitative and qualitative research were combined to explore the current situation and influencing factors of posttraumatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury in this study. There were two parts:1.Quantitative study on the post-traumatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury:A descriptive design was used in this study from December 2017 to September 2018,the parents of the children who were hospitalized for treatment of an unintentional injury at a three-star children’s hospital in Suzhou City were conveniently sampled. The Post Traumatic Growth was measured by the Post Traumatic Growth inventory revised by Wang Ji.A series of instruments, the general information questionaire, the Perceived Social Support Scale compiled by Jiang Qian jin were used to measure the influencing factors.Desciptive analysis, univariate analysis, correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis were used to analyze the influencing factors of posttramatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury.2.Qualitative study on the post-traumatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury:The purposive sampling was adoped, the parents of children with moderate traumatic growth were selected as the interviewees by the results of previous quantitative research.Semi-structured interviews were conducted to understand the experience of parents with accidental injuries and explore the influencing factors from October to December 2018.Results:1.The average score of Posttramatic growth inventory was(58.42±23.17).The scores of five dimensions from high to low are appreciation of life(3.45±1.14),greater personal strength(3.26±1.05),new possibility(2.78±1.15),relationship with others(2.70±1.23),spiritual change(2.41±1.29).2.Used the PTG score as dependent variable, multiple linear regression was employed to identify possible related factors. The results showed that 3 variables, family support, friends support and other support, entered the model. It explained 98.3%of the total variation of posttramatic growth in parents of children with accidental injury.3.The post-traumatic growth experience of parents of children with accidental injury mainly includes:negative emotional experience(overreaction of body and mind, uncertainty of future);experience growth(life experience, greater personal strength, improvement of relationship with others). Conclusion:Parents of children with accidental injuries have a moderate level of post-traumatic growth.Family support, friends support and other support are the influencing factors of posttramatic growth in parents of children with accidental injuries, which can positively predict their post-traumatic growth.
