Abstract/Summary:
ObjectiveTo study clinical difference between plate fixation and lag screw fixation for the Regan-Morrey Ⅱ type ulnar coronoid process fractures.MethodWe retrospectively studied Regan-Morrey Ⅱ type ulnar coronoid process fractures cases of the second hospital affiliated to medical school of zhejiang university from 2013.06 to 2019.01.According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,we finally selected 33 cases, among which 11 cases fixed with lag screw,22 cases fixed with plate.Through the retrospective analysis of these cases,we had comparative analysis by the operative time, the amount of bleeding during surgery, the hospitalization time, the operation expenses, recovery of elbow joint function, postoperative pain score, postoperative complications.ResultAll cases were osseous healing. There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss, hospitalization time and operation cost between the lag screw group and the plate group(P>0.05).But the operation time of the screw group was less than that of the plate group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in recovery of elbow joint function between the double groups(P>0.05).And the proportion of postoperative ulnar nerve injury, postoperative infection and implant protrusion in the lag screw group was similar to that in the plate group(P>0.05).However,the proportion of small residual bone fragments around the elbow joint in the lag screw group was higher than that in the plate group(P<0.05).ConclusionLag screw and plate both have a great therapeutic effect on the Regan-Morrey II type ulnar coronoid process fractures. The operation time of lag screw fixation is shorter. It is more suitable for patients who can not tolerate operation for a long time. However, the proportion of small residual bone fragments in the lag screw group is higher, which may cause complications like heterotopic ossification, ossifying myositis and traumatic osteoarthritis.
