Mitochondrial dysfunction acts a pivotal part in the progression of sepsis,Restoring mitochondrial function may improve patient prognosis.An ever increasing number of research has shown that supplementation of thiamine,an essential factor associated with energy metabolism in mitochondria may prevent the development of sepsis.This article reviews the recent advances in the application of thiamine in sepsis.
