Objectives To explore the association between arterial stiffness and cognitive function among diabetic patients. Methods The diabetes population who participated in the sixth follow-up of 2016-2017 in kailuan study was selected for the Mini-Mental St-ate Examination(MMSE)and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV)test.3610 participants met the incl usion criteria and with sufficient data were included in the statistical analysis.Multiv ariate logistics regression analysis was used to analyze the influence of different lev el of baPWV on cognitive function in diabetes population. The repeated Logistic mo del was verified in the population who did not take antihypertensive drugs, hypoglyc emic drugs and lipid-lowering drugs. Results The average age of the 3610 subjects included in the analysis was 59.91±9.95 years old,of whom the patients with cognitive dysfunction accounted for 11.37%.The observation population was divided into three groups according to tertile of baPWV(16.11m/s?19.30m/s).With the increase tertile of baPWV,the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction increased(8.65%?12.68%?14.00%;P<0.01).Multiple Logi-stic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for age, gender and other risk fac-tors,compared to baPWV in tertile 1,baPWV in tertile 2 and tertile 3 were the risk factors for cognitive dysfunction with an OR value of 1.49(95%CI1.01-2.19)and 1.52(95%CI1.02-2.28).After adjusting for various confounding factors in the population who did not take oral hypoglycemic drugs, compared to baPWV in tertile 1,baPWV in tertile 2 and tertile 3 were the risk factors for cognitive dysfunction with an OR value of 1.79(95%CI1.15-2.78)and 1.81(95%CI1.13-2.89);After adjusting for various confounding factors in the population who did not take hypoglycemic drugs, compared to baPWV in tertile 1,baPWV in tertile 3 were the risk factors for cognitive dysfunction with an OR value of 1.90(95%CI1.04-3.47);After adjusting for various confounding factors in the population who did not take lipid-lowering medications, compared to baPWV in tertile 1,baPWV in tertile 3 were the risk factors for cognitive dysfunction with an OR value of 1.52(95%CI1.02-2.29).Conclusions Arterial stiffness is an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in diabetic patients.Figure 0;Table 7;Reference 35...
