The Research Progress In Effection Of Incretin-related Antidiabetic Drugs Occurrence And Development Of Osteoporosis

Incretin-related antidiabetic drugs,as a new type of the first-line antidiabetic drugs,include dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors(DPP4-Is)and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1 RAs).Incretin-related diabetic drugs have a significant effect on lowering glucose,furthermore,they are of a good safety performance.Osteoporosis is a common complication of diabetes mellitus.In the past,an extensive body of research has demonstrated that there might be a reciprocity and a vicious circle between osteoporosis and diabetes mellitus.We searched the recent domestic and foreign literatures about incretin-related antidiabetic drugs,in order to find the correlation and common ground shared by these two diseases in treatment,and to look for a new method of the comprehensive treatments of these two diseases.We found that the indications of incretin-related antidiabetic drugs are not restricted only to lowering glucose.Incretin-related antidiabetic drugs can regulate different cell functions,and they has extensive biological effectson body.Especially they may have been beneficial to bone strength and mass.So there is a possibility that incretin-related antidiabetic drugs may become a new drug for the treatment of osteoporosis in the future.This review describes the concrete mechanism that incretin-related antidiabetic drugs might affect on osteoporosis.
