Objective: To observe the anti-hypertensive efficacy and mechanism of acupuncture during Chenshi in patients with essential hypertension, and to provide a combination of acupuncture and medicine for the treatment of essential hypertension. Methods: 120 patients with essential hypertension were randomly divided into two groups(with 3 cases of fall off).60 cases in control group were treated by oral levoamlodipine maleate tablets in the morning.57 cases in the treatment group were treated by acupuncture during ChenShi(7:00-9:00am.)on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for4 weeks. The consulting room blood pressure,TCM syndrome integral, endothelin(ET),angiotensin II(Ang II),and serum nitric oxide(NO)levels before and after treatment were used as indicators to evaluate the anti-hypertensive efficacy and to explore mechanism.Results:1.Consulting room blood pressure: Intra-group comparison in two groups:there were statistical differences in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure between before and after treatment in two groups(P<0.05).After treatment, there were statistical differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the two groups(P<0.05).The total effective rate of anti-hypertensive efficacy was 89 % in treatment group and 63 % in control group. There was statistical difference in anti-hypertensive efficacy between the two groups(P<0.05).2.TCM syndrome: Intra-group comparison in two groups: there were statistical differences in the TCM syndrome integral between before and after treatment in two groups(P<0.05).After treatment, there were statistical differences in TCM syndrome integral between the two groups(P<0.05).Thetotal effective rate of TCM syndrome integral efficacy was 91.23% in treatment group and 56.67% in control group. There was statistical difference in TCM syndrome integral efficacy between the two groups(P<0.05).3.Comparison of ET,NO and Ang II before and after treatment between two groups: Intra-group comparison in two groups: there were statistical differences in ET and NO between before and after treatment in two groups(P<0.05).Intra-group comparison in two groups: there was no statistical difference in AngII between before and after treatment in two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, there were statistical differences in ET and NO between the two groups(P<0.05).After treatment, there was no statistical difference in AngII between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Both acupuncture during ChenShi combined with western medicine and western medicine treatment can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The anti-hypertensive efficacy of acupuncture during ChenShi combined with oral western medicine is better than that of western medicine treatment.2.Both acupuncture during ChenShi combined with western medicine and western medicine treatment can reduce the integral of TCM syndrome. The efficacy of reducing TCM syndrome integral in the acupuncture during ChenShi combined with western medicine treatment is better than that of western medicine treatment.3.Both acupuncture during ChenShi combined with western medicine and western medicine treatment can reduce the level of ET and increase the level of NO in patients with essential hypertension. The effect of the acupuncture during ChenShi combined with western medicine on reducing the level of ET and increasing the level of NO is better than that of western medicine treatment.
