| Objective: To study the incidence rate and clinical characteristics of constipation in patients with Parkinson’s disease, and to evaluate the drug intervention. Methods: 268 patients with Parkinson’s disease were continuously recruited in this study between October 2012 and November 2015.The basic characteristics, lifestyle habits,Parkinson’s disease related features(onset age、 course of disease),and drugs of Parkinson’s disease were collected by questionnaires in clinic. The patients were divided to groups according to constipation or not on the basis of the diagnostic criteria of constipation;the occurrence time of constipation were collected by questionnaire in patients with constipation;Constipation Scoring System were performed to evaluate the constipation severity in nearly 1 weeks. The patients were assessed using various scales, including Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale,Hoehn-Yahr grade,Non-Motor Symptoms Scale,Hamilton Depression Scale and Hamilton Anxiety Scale,Mini Mental State Exam,Parkinson disease life quality-39.43 cases of Parkinson’s disease with constipation patients treated with longhui pills orally for 2 weeks, compared constipation severity and defecation frequency change before and after the treatment. Results: 1.The incidence of constipation in patients with Parkinson’s disease was 54.10%(145/268),including severe constipation accounted for 46.03%(63/145).2.Compared with non-constipation group,(1)in the social characteristics and living habits, constipation group had less exercise(P=0.043)and less amount of water(P=0.043),(2)constipation group appeared more severe motor symptoms(P < 0.05),non-motor symptoms(P < 0.05),poorer quality of life(P < 0.05),accept greater levodopa and levodopa equivalent dose(P < 0.05).3.Age and depression were risk factors for constipation severity.4.Parkinson’s disease patients with constipation as the prodromal symptom, had later onset age(P = 0.000),shorter duration of Parkinson’s disease(P = 0.000),lighter motor symptoms(P < 0.05),lower levodopa and levodopa equivalent dose(P < 0.05)and higher quality of life(P < 0.05).5.Longhuiwan improved the symptoms of constipation.(P=0.000).Conclusion: Constipation is closely related to the living habits and clinical characteristics in Parkinson’s disease.Age and depression are the risk factors for constipation severity.Constipation affects the quality of life. With constipation as a prodromal symptom, the onset age of patients are later, and duration of Parkinson’s disease is shorter, motor symptoms are lighter.Longhuiwan can effectively improve the symptoms of constipation. |
