Objective: To investigate correlations between clinicopathologic feature of breast cancer and the patterns of mammographically detected calcifications. Methods: The research retrospectively analyzed the associations between mammograraphic findings of 251 Chinese women with breast cancer(median age 52 years, from 18 to 75 years)and clinic-pathological features. The relationship between calcification characteristics about calcification morphology, calcification distribution, mass with calcification, age, structure distortion, location, quadrant and pathological indicators such as ductal carcinoma in situ, invasive carcinoma molecular subtypes, histological grade and lymph node metastasis was statistically analyzed. The correlation between mammographic imaging features and clinic-pathologic feature of breast cancer was analyzed by SPSS24.0 statistical software using Chi-square test, univariate analysis, multivariate analysis, which was statistically significant for P<0.05.Results: It was found that the relationship between mass with calcification, calcification distribution could be the independent predictors of DCIS and IDC.Among them, calcification inside the mass, calcification over the mass was common in invasive carcinoma. In univariate analysis, calcification morphology, calcification distribution, mass with calcification was significantly associated with molecular subtypes of invasive breast cancer(all P <0.05).There was no significant associations between the three factors and lymphatic vascular invasion or lymph node status and histological grade(all P>0.05).In multivariate analysis, there was no significant associations between calcification morphology, calcification distribution, mass with calcification and the triple-negative breast cancer.Meanwhile,we found that in Luminal B subtype, segmental distribution(OR: 4.286 95%CI:1.179-15.817)of calcification is the most common.Regional calcification(OR: 4.767 95%CI: 1.634-13.990)is most common in her2-positive breast cancer.Based on different calcification characteristics, the biological behavior of malignant breast tumors can be predicted more accurately. Conclusions: This study shows that specific features of calcification could be used to facilitate the preoperative prediction of DCIS and IDC,but with no significant correlation with histological grade and lymph node metastasis.
