Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1)level and renal injury in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Methods:107 SLE patients who visited the Rheumatology and Immunology Department of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang from December 2017 to December 2018 were selected.According to 24-hour urinary protein quantification?0.5g or(and)the certain pathological classification of lupus nephritis, the patients were divided into LN group and non-LN group. In LN group, the patients with renal injury divided into proliferative type LN(type III and type IV)and non-proliferative LN(type I,type II and type V)according to the International Society of Naphrology/Renal Pathology Society(ISN/RPS)pathological classification of lupus nephritis.Serum levels of VCAM-1 were measured by using ELISA kit, gathering other laboratory indexes including serum creatinine, glomerular filtration rate,24-hour urinary protein quantification,CRP,ESR,complement C3,complement C4,complement C1q and anti-nuclear antibody series in all subjects.SPSS20.0 was used to analyze and process the data, with P<0.05 as the statistical significance. Results:There was no significant difference in the general data of gender, age and course between all patients(P>0.05).The patients with active disease duration(SLEDAI?5)had statistically higher levels of ESR,24-hour urinary protein quantification,ds-DNA,anti-complement C1q antibody,VCAM-1 and lower levels of complement C3 and complementC4 than patients with stable disease duration(SLEDAI<5)(P<0.05).A positive correlation was found between the VCAM-1 levels and 24-hour urinary protein quantification(r_s=0.266,P=0.021)as well as anti-complement C1q antibody(r_s=0.279,P=0.021)in LN group. And the VCAM-1 levels and 24-hour urinary protein quantification of LN group were statistically higher than that in non-LN group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The research shows that serum levels of VCAM-1 were related to the disease activity of systemic lupus erythematosus, and suggested kidney injury.Because of increased level of VCAM-1 in LN patients with type III and type IV,serum levels of VCAM-1 may indicate active renal damage in clinical application.
