Objective:Based on the Delphi method, this paper explored the development of a scale assessing knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents of infants with respiratory diseases about thirdhand smoke exposure, and investigated the parents of infants with respiratory diseases,so as to understand their knowledge, attitude and behavior related to thirdhand smoke exposure, and explore the possible factors affecting their knowledge, attitude and behavior. This study provides a basis for making relevant investigations and effectively reducing the hazard of thirdhand smoke exposure.Methods:1.Part ?:development of "Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Parents of Infants with Respiratory Disease to Thirdhand Smoke Exposure Scale"Through consulting relevant.literatures, having a semi-structured interview to parents,on the basis of analyzing the thirdhand smoke exposure risk factors,KAP(knowledge-attitude-practice)theory as the conceptual framework, build the item pool, the Delphi method is adopted two rounds to 18 national related experts.According to feedback information,we filtered and modificated items, and finally established Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Parents of Infants with Respiratory Disease to Thirdhand Smoke Exposure Pretesting Scale.220 parents of respiratory diseases infants were selected from the pediatric ward of the first affiliated hospital of zhengzhou university. The items were further screened by discriminating degree analysis and exploratory factor analysis, and the remaining items were analyzed for reliability. The reliability test adopted internal consistency reliability and retest reliability. Then Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Parents of Infants with Respiratory Disease to Thirdhand Smoke Exposure Scale was formed.2.Part ii:investigation on the current situation of knowledge, attitudes and practices of the parents of respiratory diseases infants about thirdhand smoke exposure.Select and investigate 520 parents of respiratory diseases infants from the first affiliated hospital of zhengzhou university pediatric wards.Use IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 statistical software for descriptive statistics, single factor variance analysis and multiple linear regression analysis, describes the knowledge, attitudes and practices level of the parents of respiratory diseases infants about thirdhand smoke exposure, and explore its influencing factors.Results:1.Development of "Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Parents of Infants with Respiratory Disease to Thirdhand Smoke Exposure Scale"After two rounds of expert letter consultation, the pretesting scale with 38 items in 3 dimensions was formed. After discrimination analysis, validity analysis(exploratory factor analysis)and reliability analysis(internal consistency reliability and retest reliability),a total of 10 items were deleted,5 common factors were extracted, and the cumulative contribution rate was 80.48%.Finally,a formal survey scale with 28 items in 3 dimensions was formed.2.Formal investigation resultsIn the formal investigation phase,513 samples were included. In this survey, there was no significant difference in the scores of knowledge, attitudes and practices of the parents of infants with different age,sex and number of birth(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of knowledge, attitudes and practices among the parents with different age, number of children, marital status, ethnic group and religious belief(P>0.05).The independent variables of parental gender, education level, place of residence, income, type of medical insurance, number of symptoms and times of infants' hospitalization, tobacco status of parents, whether there are other smokers in the family, whether someone smokes within 3 meters of the infants were different. The survey subjects had significant differences in the scores of knowledge, attitudes and practices of thirdhand smoke exposure(P<0.05).Based on the results of single factor analysis, the total score is taken as the dependent variable.Parents' gender, education level, place of residence, income per month, type of medical insurance, the number of infants'symptoms and admission, parents tobacco state, whether there are other smokers in the home, whether someone smoking in children within 3 meters as independent variables, using multiple stepwise regression analysis, the results showed that the number of infants' symptoms, parents' education degree, place of residence, tobacco state, whether there are other smokers to infants and young children in the family, whose the knowledge, attitudes and practices level of the parents of respiratory diseases infants about thirdhand smoke exposure have been affected significantly(P<0.05),R2=0.564.The dependent variable can be explained 56.4%by the independent variable variance.Conclusion:1."Knowledge,Attitudes and Practices of Parents of Infants with Respiratory Disease to Thirdhand Smoke Exposure Scale",with a high level of reliability and validity, can be used as a research tool,to test parents' level of knowledge, attitudes and practices to thirdhand smoke exposure.2.Parents' level of knowledge, attitudes and practices to thirdhand smoke exposure is low.The number of infants' symptoms, parents' education degree, place of residence, tobacco state, whether there are other smokers to infants and young children in the family, whose the knowledge, attitudes and practices level of the parents of respiratory diseases infants about thirdhand smoke exposure have been affected significantly.
