Background and ObjectiveAutism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a kind of neurodevelopmental disorder, causing social interaction barriers, communication barriers and repetitive behaviors. The etiology of the ASD is not yet clear, the most recognized is the result of genetic and environmental factors. The incidence of ASD reported by the United Nations is 1/150 and rising, seriously affecting the quality of life of ASD children and their families. No specific method has been found for the treatment of this disease, except for a variety of rehabilitation training on children with behavior intervention and language problems.Although early intervention can solve the problem of part of the children, but the efficacy of rehabilitation training is not good and the cost is high. Most families can’t afford it for a long time.Acupoint injection, which combines traditional Chinese medicine theory, modern medical theory and drug treatment principle, and meridians with anatomical sites together, can be used to explore the comprehensive efficacy of acupuncture effect and drug effect on meridians. However, there is currently no standardized record of acupoint selection, and operation, and there is also no unified standard for the evaluation of the efficacy of acupoint injection. So acupoint injection is not widely used in the treatment of ASD.After the consent of the guardian of the children and the voluntary signing of the informed consent and the approval of the ethics committee of the hospital, children with ASD were selected to receive treatment of rehabilitation training combined with acupoint injection or rehabilitation training alone. The aims of this study were to evaluate the efficacy of acupoint injection on children with ASD.Subjects and Methods1.Subjects:62 children with ASD in our hospital from July 2018 to April 2019 were divided into study group and control group by random number table method, each group had 30 children(fall off in 2 cases,1 case was terminated due to anaphylaxis,1 case of pneumonia to pediatric treatment),both consistent in the《Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition》(DSM-V)diagnostic criteria.2.Methods:Using The Chinese Version of Psycho-educational Profile(C-PEP)to evaluate two groups of children before treatment, according to the specific characteristics of children, giving Applied Behavior Analysis(30 minutes at a time),Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children(90 minutes at a time),Relational Development Intervention(60 minutes at a time),family targeted training(Greater than or equal to 180 minutes at a time),etc. For children with definite indication, who can receive Auditory Integration Training(20 minutes at a time),Sensory IntegrationTherapy(30 minutes at a time). All of the above treatments are once a day.The study group was given acupoint injection on the basis of rehabilitation training, once every two days, three times a week. Both groups were treated continuously for 3 months.3.Evaluation:Activities of Daily Living Autism Behavior Checklist(ABC),Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS)and Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist(ATEC)were used to evaluate the efficacy before treatment and after 1,2,and 3 months of treatment.ResultsWith the prolongation of the treatment, the scores of items and total score of ABC,CARS and ATEC in the two groups gradually decreased, but the degree of decline was different. After 3 months of treatment, sensory, communication, language, and self-care scores and ABC total scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while the adaptation to environmental changes, visual response, auditory response, near and far response, intellectual funcion, total impression scores and CARS total scores were lower than those in the control group, the sensory perception, communication, social interaction scores and ATEC total scores were lower than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before and after treatment, there was no significant difference in motor ability, imitation, emotional response, relationship with non living objects, activity level and behavior scores between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions1.Compared with rehabilitation training alone, rehabilitation training combined with acupoint injection has a significant effect on sensory and social interaction in children with ASD.2.Rehabilitation training combined with acupoint injection and rehabilitation training alone, have no obvious improvement on motor ability, imitation, emotional response, relationship with non living objects, activity level and behavior of children with ASD.3.The clinical treatment of ASD is still difficult, and more basic and clinical research is needed to promote the progress of ASD treatment. |
