Objective: To investigate the changes of the submacular fluid, photoreceptor and other related factors in the macular area after the scleral buckling of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Methods: A retrospective series of case studies were conducted. From August 2016 to August 2018,30 patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment were successfully treated with scleral buckling in the Department of Ophthalmology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. The detailed clinical results of RRD patients were collected, surgery, and follow-up data(optical coherence tomography and best corrected visual acuity on postoperative first week, after 2 weeks, afte 1 month, afte 3 months and March after surgery). The age, eye, duration of retinal detachment, extent of retinal detachment, number of retinal tears, visual acuity before and after surgery, and macular structure in postoperative optical dry tomography were observed.Spearman rank correlation test was performed to analyze the effect of retinal detachment duration and retinal detachment range on the structural changes of macular area in OCT during postoperative follow-up.The visual acuity of patients with impaired ellipsoidal zone in the macular area and undamaged patients were analyzed by rank sum test. Results: Of the 29 patients with 30 eyes who underwent scleral buckling to repair RRD,18 eyes(60.0%)had no subretinal fluid, and 12 eyes(40.0%)had subretinal fluid, including the omentum. The lower effusion absorbed 5 eyes(16.7%)in 2 weeks,3 eyes(10.0%)in 2 weeks to 1 month, and 4 eyes(13.3%)in 1 month to 3 months. The OCT scan data of each group were collected. After statistical analysis, the delayed absorption of subretinal fluid was related to the extent of retinal detachment(P<0.05)and retinal detachment time(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference between the patients with impaired ellipsoid and the visual impairment of the undamaged patients(P<0.05).Conclusion: At present, after successful scleral buckling for primary RRD,thefactors affecting the delayed absorption of SMF are the extent of retinal detachment and the duration of retinal detachment.
