Background and Aim:Cap-assisted colonoscopy is a transparent plastic hood attached to the tip of the col onoscope to flatten the semilunar folds and improve the exposure rate of the mucous. Many studies have examined the effect of cap-assisted colonoscopy on polyp detection and cecum intubation, but the data are inconsistent. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical value of cap assisted colonoscopy compared with standard colon-oscopy.Methods:This study was a prospective, controlled trial. The object of this study were patients who were examined by painless colonoscopy from July 2016 to October 2017 in the digestive endoscopy room of Liaocheng People's Hospital.According to the check order, they were divided into odd arrays and even groups. The odd group was the experimental group, using cap-assisted colonoscopy. The even group was the control group, using standard colonoscopy. All the examination operations were completed by two experienced endoscopy experts who had completed at least 3000 cases of colonoscopy.Comparative analysis of the two groups of patients with anesthesia and good bowel preparation in colon polyp detection rate, adenoma detection rate, cecal intubation time, caecum intubation success rate,to understand the clinical value of transparent caps in the colonoscopy endoscopic experts operated. Results:A total of 508 patients were included in the study. The difference of the polyp detection rate(44.2% vs 35.5%,P=0.044)and the adenoma detection rate(38.8% vs 30.2%,P=0.042)between the two groups showed statistically significant;the difference of the number of polyps per patient(0.83±1.17 vs 0.63±1.00,P=0.045)and the number of adenomas per patient(0.55±0.80 vs 0.42±0.68,P=0.041)between the two groups showed statistically significant;the difference of the cecal intubation success rate(98.8% vs 99.2%,P=1)and the cecal intubation time(4.71±1.76 vs 4.51±1.65,P=0.198)between the two groups showed no statistically significant. Conclusions:For endoscopic experts,in the case of anesthesia and good bowel preparation,cap-assisted colonoscopy is more conducive to the detection of colonic polyps and adenomas compared with standard colonoscopy, but can not improve the cecal intubation success rate and shorten the time of cecal intubation.
