Clinical Observation Of Shenling Baishu Fengxiang Decoction In The Treatment Of IBS-D(Spleen Deficiency And Dampness)

Objective: This study was designted to assess efficacy and safety of shenling baizhu fengxiang decoction in treating diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)(spleen deficiency and dampness-sheng)with the ancient and modern medicine to the understanding of the diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome,"spleen deficient and dampness-sheng" as pathogenesis.This study will provide a clinical basis for the treatment of diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome with traditional Chinese medicine(syndrome of excess dampness due to spleen deficiency).Methods: 72 outpatients withdiarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome(syndrome of excess dampness due to spleen deficiency)accorded to diagnosed criteria were randomly divided into the experimental group(36 patients)and the control group(36 patients).The experimental group was oral adminstration with shenling baizhu fengxiang decoction,while the control group was treated with shenling jianpiwei granules.The treatment period of both groups was 4 weeks.The patients defecate number,properties of integral,abdominal pain curative effect of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine,TCM syndrome total integral,integral scores of individual TCM symptoms and anxiety(SAS)and depression(SDS)self-test scale scores and other changes were assessed after 4 weeks treatment.Besides,the faeces character and abdominal pain response rates also were evaluated at 2 weeks and 4weeks.Results: There was no difference in general condition(such as gender,age,course of disease,vital signs)and severity of the disease between the two groups before treatment(P > 0.05).1.The total effective rate in the shenling baizhu fengxiang decoction group was 91.4%,while the control group was 73.5%.There were significant differences between shenling baizhu fengxiang decoction group and the control group in the total effective rate by the rank-sum test(P < 0.01).2.After treatment,the total score of TCM syndrome in both groups was significantly different(P < 0.01),and the experimental group was better than the control group(P <0.05).3.After treatment,the stool frequency,characteristics and abdominal pain in both groups were significantly different(P < 0.01),and the experimental group was better than the control group(P < 0.05).4.After 4 weeks of treatment,the response rates of faeces characteristics and abdominal pain in the test group(74.3% and 85.7%)were better than those in the control group(52.9% and 58.8%)(P < 0.05).5.Integral scores of individual TCM symptoms after treatment in both groups were improved(P < 0.05),test group in alleviating patient defecate number increase,watery faeces,abdominal pain,increased borborygmus,heavy sleepy five symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine is better than that of control group(P < 0.05),but have no influence in alleviating fatigue,anorexia(P > 0.05).6.Anxiety and depression in both groups were improved after treatment(P < 0.01),and the experimental group was better than the control group(P < 0.05).7.No obvious adverse reactions occurred in both groups.Conclusion: shenling baizhu fengxiang decoction is more effective than shenling jianpiwei granules in treating diarrheal irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)with spleen deficiency and dampness-sheng.It can effectively relieve the symptoms of increased stools,watery faeces,dull abdominal pain,improve borborygmus and heavy sleepiness,and ameliorate the anxiety and depression of patients.It is safe and worthy of clinical application.
