Quality Of Life And Social Support Among Human Immunodeficiency Virus-positive Men Who Have Sex With Men

Objective: Under the influence of Chinese traditional culture,hiv-positive men who have sex with men(MSM)are under great pressure from society and family due to their homosexual identity and HIV infection,resulting in their lack of effective social support,which seriously affects their physical and mental health.This study will examine the prevalence of the quality of life and social support among hiv-positive MSM,and explore the possible influencing factors of their life quality and social support,and to provide theoretical support for promoting social support and improving the quality of life,and further explore the relationship between their social support and quality of life,and to provide scientific basis for comprehensive prevention and treatment of AIDS and health management.Methods: In this study,a self-filling questionnaire survey was conducted on about 700 hiv-positive MSM registered in the follow-up hospital of disease control and infectious diseases in Huludao,Zhengzhou,Ningbo,Dalian,Shenyang and Dandong by means of convenient sampling.The questionnaire included the hiv-positive MSM general information questionnaire,medical outcomes study 36-item short-form health survey(SF-36)and medical outcomes study social support survey(MOS-SSS)to assess the demographic characteristics,HIV infection status,HIV testing,sexual behavior,quality of life and level of social support of hiv-positive MSM.One-way anova and t-test were used to compare the differences in MSM life quality level and social support level among different demographic characteristics,HIV infection status,HIV testing,and sexual behavior characteristics,Pearson correlation analysis was used to identify the relationship between the quality of life of hiv-positive MSM and social support,Finally,the structural equation model is used to verify the relationship between social support and quality of life,and the influencing factors and their action intensity are comprehensively analyzed.Results: 1.In the life quality score of hiv-positive MSM,the total score of physical component summary was 74.23 ± 20.57 points,and the total score of mental component summary was 46.61 ± 25.86 points.The total score of social support was 51.53 ± 22.11.2.Age,marriage,income,education,occupation,stage of disease,CD4+T lymphocyte count,HIV viral load,antiviral therapy,STD related symptoms,HIV infection disclosure and condom use are the influencing factors for the physiological health of hiv-positive MSM.Marriage,income,education level,stage of disease,CD4+T lymphocyte count,HIV viral load,STD related symptoms,disclosure of HIV infection and condom use were the influencing factors for mental health of hiv-positive MSM(p<0.05).3.Age,marriage,income,education level,stage of disease,CD4+T lymphocyte count,HIV viral load and condom use were the influencing factors for social support of hivpositive MSM(p<0.05).4.There was a correlation between the dimensions of hiv-positive MSM life quality and social support,and social support had a positive effect on life quality,with a standardized factor load of 0.416(t=8.650,p<0.001).Emotional informational support(0.923,t=35.755,p<0.001)and bodily pain(0.734,t=12.635,p<0.001)had the largest standardized factor loading in social support,and quality of life.Conclusion: 1.The quality of life level among hiv-positive MSM is low and still needs further improvement.The main influencing factors were age,marriage,income,education level,occupation,stage of disease,CD4+T lymphocyte count,HIV viral load,antiviral treatment,STD related symptoms,HIV exposure and condom use.2.The social support of hiv-positive MSM was also at a low level,with age,marriage,income,education level,stage of disease,CD4+T lymphocyte count,HIV viral load and condom use as the influencing factors.Based on different influencing factors,strategies and measures should be developed to improve their quality of life and level of social support.3.The social support of hiv-positive MSM has a positive effect on quality of life,increasing the social support of MSM is conducive to improving their quality of life,active publicity and guidance should be given to enhance the public's understanding of this group,reduce social prejudice and discrimination,and create a tolerant and humane social environment.
