Objective: To observe the clinical effect of botulinum toxin type A combined with compound betamethasone in the treatment of massive hypertrophic scar. Methods: Select 39 patients with massive hypertrophic scar in our hospital from march2017 to march 2019.Divide patients into 3 groups by random digital method, group A:13patients were treated with botulinum toxin type A combined with compound betamethasone by scar injection.Group B:12 patients were treated with botulinum toxin type A by scar injection.Group C:14 patients were treated with compound betamethasone by scar injection.Follow up 1 month after each treatment and half a year after the end of the course(3 treatments). The total effective rate of the treatment was recorded. The Vancouver Scar Score Scale(VSS)values were used to evaluate the color, vascular distribution and softness of the scar in three groups. The thickness of the scar color ultrasound was measured. The condition of patient's pain and itching improvement was evaluated reference to the Visual Analog Scale(VAS).Results: The total effective rate(92.31%),VSS values, color ultrasound scar thickness and VAS values in group A were significantly better than group B(75.00%)and group C(50.00%).The differences were statistically significant among three groups(p<0.05).In three groups, there were very few patients with occasional redness and swelling around the pinhole after treatments. Conclusion: Botulinum toxin type A combined with compound betamethasone is safe and effective in the treatment of massive hypertrophic scar, which can improve the therapeutic effect and the effective area of single treatment. It is worthy of clinical application.
