Objective:This study mainly used 3.0T MRI to scan the subjects, and used the 3.0T MR IDAEL-IQ sequence to measure the bone marrow fat content of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum and upper femur(femoral head, femoral neck, femoral greater trochanter, and femoral intertrochanteric region),to explore its changes with age,the differences in bone marrow fat content between men and women of the same age group, and the correlation between bone marrow fat content and body mass index(BMI),menopause, diabetes. Methods:A total of 319 patients and volunteers were selected to be treated in Qingdao Municipal Hospital from November 2018 to May 2019.There were 175 males and 144 females, aged between 21 and 85 years, with an average of 58 years. The instrument uses a 3.0T MR scanner(GE MR 750),which scans the subject using a body coil. The subjects took the supine position and advanced feet. The scan range was from L3 vertebra to the upper femur. The axial and coronal positions of the IDEAL-IQ sequence were scanned. The image was post-processed using the GE ADW4.6 workstation.L4 vertebra and femoral greater trochanter regions of interest are plotted on the axial image. The ilium, sacrum, femoral head, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric regions of interest are plotted on the coronal image.measuring.All data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 24.0 software.Measurement data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation(x ± s).Differences in bone marrow fat content in different parts of male and female age groups were compared using univariate analysis of variance.Pearson correlation analysis was performed on bone marrow fat content and age in male and female parts;bone marrow in male and female parts of the same age group.Fat content was compared using independent sample t tests;single-factor analysis of variance was used to analyze the differences in bone marrow fat content in different parts of BMI groups in postmenopausal women;pre-menopausal and postmenopausal women were used to analyze differences in bone marrow fat content among groups independent sample t test;analysis of bone marrow fat content in different parts of newly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients and control group using independent sample t test, different analysis of bone marrow fat content in different parts of different groups of different glycated hemoglobin values in newly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients using independent sample t test, the correlation between bone marrow fat content and glycated hemoglobin value in newly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients was analyzedby Pearson correlation.Result:1.The bone marrow fat content of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region of males and females increased with age,and there were statistically significant differences between different age groups(F values for males were11.57,9.54,11.38,10.52,6.01,females were 38.83,22.45,22.04,4.35,6.63,P <0.001),and the femoral head and femoral greater trochanter, bone marrow fat content of men and women did not change with age.Male and female L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content was positively correlated with age(r values for males were 0.550,0.494,0.528,0.492,0.378,females were 0.789,0.708,0.706,0.379,0.374,P<0.05).2.The bone marrow fat content of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum of men is higher than that of women before 50 years of age,and lower than that of women after 50 years of age.Among them,L4 vertebra of the 21~30 years old group,61~70 years old group, and sacrum over 70 years old group. The difference in bone marrow fat content was statistically significant(t values were 0.977,-0.386,-1.371,P <0.05);except for the femoral neck fat content of men in the 51~60 age group, which was lower than that of women, the rest of the men’s femoral neck and intertrochanteric groups bone marrow fat content was higher than that of women, and the femoral neck bone marrow fat content in the 21~30 years old group was statistically significant for men and women(t values were 0.486,P<0.05).3.The bone marrow fat content of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region of premenopausal women is lower than that of postmenopausal women. The differences were statistically significant(t=-16.33 、-11.59 、-13.45、-7.38、-6.78,P<0.05).4.Postmenopausal women’s femoral neck and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content gradually decreased with the increase of BMI,and the differences between different BMI groups were statistically significant(F values were 3.43,5.16,P<0.05).Postmenopausal women’s femoral neck and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content was negatively correlated with BMI(r=-0.388,-0.436,P<0.05).5.The bone marrow fat of L4 vertebrae, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region in newly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients with glycated hemoglobin > 7.0% greater than glycated hemoglobin ≤7.0%,and the difference was statistically significant(t=3.607,3.591,3.992,7.755,6.379,P<0.05);newly diagnosed elderly male patients with diabetes mellitus L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content and glycated hemoglobin, the values were positively correlated(r=0.866,0.721,0.679,0.693,0.732,P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Male and female L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content generally increased with age, male and female L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region bone fat content is positively correlated with age.2.The bone marrow fat content of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region of premenopausal women is lower than that of postmenopausal women.3.Postmenopausal women’s femoral neck and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content gradually decreases with increasing BMI.Postmenopausal women’s femoral neck and femoral intertrochanteric region bone marrow fat content has a negative correlation with BMI value.4.The bone marrow fat of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region innewly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients with glycated hemoglobin>7.0% greater than glycated hemoglobin≤7.0%.The bone marrow fat of L4 vertebra, ilium, sacrum, femoral neck, and femoral intertrochanteric region in newly diagnosed elderly male diabetic patients was positively correlated with glycated hemoglobin value.
