| ObjectiveIt was to study the expression of the Wnt signaling pathway related gene FZD3 and Nuclear factor E2 p45-related factor2(Nrf2)in odontogenic keratocysts(OKC),and to explore its regulatory role in the apoptosis of epithelial cells of cyst wall in OKC.Materials and MethodsTwenty-two cyst wall tissue specimens of patients with OKC were collected, normal oral mucosa samples were chosen as control,in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,Qingdao Municipal Hospital from January 2015 to October 2019.The expression of FZD3 protein and Nrf2 protein was detected by SP immunohistochemistry staining, the expression levels of FZD3 and Nrf2 in OKC epithelial tissues and normal oral mucosa tissues were analyzed and compared.SPSS 18.0 software package was used for statistical analysis.Results1 The total positive expression rate of FZD3 in OKC epithelial tissue was 100%(22/22).Specifically,the moderate positive samples were identified in 16 cases with positive rate of 72.73%and strong positive samples were identified in 6 cases with positive rate of 27.27%.Contrarily,FZD3 was weakly positive in normal oral mucosa epithelial tissue. Therefore, the positive expression rate of FZD3 in OKC epithelial tissue was significantly higher than that in normal oral mucosa epithelial tissue(Z=-6.255,p<0.01).2 The total positive expression rate of Nrf2 in OKC epithelial tissue was 63.64%(14/22).Specifically,the weakly positive samples were identified in 3 cases with positive rate of 13.64%,the moderate positive samples were identified in 6 cases with positive rate of 27.27%,and the strong positive samples were identified in 5 cases with positive rate of 22.73%,and the expression rate of Nrf2 in normal oral mucosa epithelial tissue was 0%(0/22).Therefore,the positive expression rate of Nrf2 in OKC epithelial tissue was significantly higher than that in normal oral mucosa epithelial tissue(Z=-4.387,p<0.01).ConclusionExpression levels of FZD3 and Nrf2 were significantly higher in OKC epithelial tissues, indicating those two genes including FZD3 and Nrf2 may play an important role in the proliferation and apoptosis of OKC epithelial cells. |
