Yiqi Huoxue Recipe Ameliorated Hepatic Fibrosis In Patients With Chronic Viral Hepatitis

Objective: This study was aimed to clarify the therapeutic efficacy of Yiqi Huoxue recipe in liver fibrosis of chronic viral hepatitis.Methods: A total of 207 patients with chronic hepatitis B or C related liver fibrosis diagnosed by liver biopsy and liver transient elastography were enrolled,and an open and positive drug parallel control study were performed.According to thesyndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),thepatients were respectively received the Yiqi Huoxue recipe(YQHX)(n=127)and Fuzheng Huayu capsules(FZHY)(n=80)with a treatment course of 24 to 48 weeks.Scores of TCM syndrome,liver biochemistry,liver stiff measurement(LSM)and non-invasive liver fibrosis indices(APRI,FIB-4)were analyzed.Results:1.The symptom scores of the patients with chronic hepatitis were alleviated by using YQHX recipe and FZHY capsules.YQHX recipe was superior to FZHY Capsule in the improvement of hepaticfacies,uncomfortable with liver area,weakness of the lumbar region(P<0.05).2.As treatment with YQHY and FZHY recipes for 24 to 48 weeks,the liver biochemistry of the patients was gradually normalized and the LSM,APRI,and FIB-4 were significantly lowered by compared to these at the baseline.The rates of Serum ALT,AST,GGT,ALP normalization in the patients using YQHX and FZHY were 100% vs 100%,100% vs 93.8%,96.8% vs 92.3% and 87.5% vs 81.8%,respectively.3.According to the melioration of LSM,the stages of liver fibrosis were decreased 1 and 2 stage for 65.0% and 15.0% in YQHX patients,54.5% and 9.1% in FZHY patients,respectively(P=0.046,YQHX group vs FZHY group).Conclusions: The Yiqi Huoxue Recipe mightserve as a novel method for treatment of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B and C.
