Objective: To assess the effectiveness of cardiac structure, function, quality of life after catheter ablation(CA)in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(PAF)and persistent atrial fibrillation(Per AF).Methods:Patients undergoing CA for AF in the second Hospital of Hebei Medical University between August 2018 and April 2019 were screened for possible participation. They were distributed into PAF group(38 cases)and Per AF group(27 cases). All the patients were diagnosed with echocardiography,SF-36 quality of life questionnaire, and 6-minute walk test(6MWT)before and after CA at 3months and 6months.Results: 1.Echocardiographic indices: Pre-ablation,the left atrium diameter(LAD)was lager(P<0.05),the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)and the left atrial strain(S)were worse(P<0.05)in Per AF group than PAF group.Compared with the baseline: For the LVEF and S,it tended to be increased at 3-month after CA in Per AF group(P<0.05),however there were no difference during follow-ups period in the PAF group(P>0.05).The LVEF and 2-chamber S(S2)were no difference at 3 months after surgery(P>0.05)while the 4-chamber S(S4)was no difference at 6 months after operation between the two groups(P>0.05).2.36-item short-form health survey(SF-36): The Physical Component Summary(PCS)and Mental Component Summary(MCS)score of SF-36 in PAF group was higher than Per AF group before CA(P<0.05)and showed a great improvement in every period after CA compared with baseline both in two groups(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in SF-36 between the two groups at 6 months after CA(P>0.05),and the change value of PCS(△PCS)and MCS(△MCS)in Per AF group were higher than those in PAF group(P<0.05).3.6-Minute Walk Test: As for 6MWT,no significant difference was observed between the two groups before and after CA(P>0.05).Compared with baseline,it significantly got higher 3 months after CA in PAF group(P<0.05)while 6 months after CA in Per AF group(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.CA can improve the LVEF,S and exercise capacity in patients with Per AF.2.CA can increase the exercise capacity in patients with PAF.3.Compared with PAF patients,CA is more significant in improving SF-36 in Per AF patients.
