A Study On The Integration And Employment Of The Mentally Disabled

Mental illness touches everyone.Maybe we know someone whose parents,partners,children,friends,colleagues and neighbors beset by mental illness.In addition to the disease,the mentally disabled and their families have great pressure on economic.Joining work can change their economy and life better.However,due to the large physical limitations,low professional skills,poor psychological quality and the social misunderstanding,panic and exclusion of mental illness for a long time,the employment problem of the mentally disabled has been marginalized and neglected.This study takes S city as an example,The study take some adult mentally patients whoes have ability and willing to work as research samples,and the research samples don’t have any abnormal in daily life,this study do research reasons of formation and improvement strategy on employment predicament of the mentally patients.Through the research,the author find out that the employment situation of S city is similar with the whole country in mentally patients: mainly auxiliary(sheltered)employment,supplemented by flexible employment and centralized employment.At the same time,there are many comparative employment by hidden identity or "affiliated" way.On the whole,although the integrated employment of the mentally disabled has started,its development is still slow.By using the theories of normalization,social system and advantage,the author analyzes the current situation,difficulties and causes of the integration of the mentally disabled in s city,it is found that there are some problems in the integration employment of the mentally disabled in S City,such as insufficient of public awareness,insufficient of post development and low cooperation among different departments.The cause of these problems are below: insufficient of social atmosphere construction,lack of clear positioning and imperfect security system etc.In view of this,by constructing the supporting system of the integration of the mentally disabled in multiple dimensions from government,society,family and individual the author proposes to use the concept and methods of the disabled social work to promote the improvement of the current situation of the integration of the mentally disabled in S City.To seek an efficient and stable way of employment for the mentally disabled and to strengthen their positive interaction with the society through the integration of employment,so as to achieve the goal of returning to a normal society.
