Cancer stem cells(CSCs)are generally considered the origin of tumor tissues which play a crucial role in the occurrence and development of tumor. The division and differentiation of CSCs depends on the specific microenvironment, and the maintenance of stemness in CSCs is also closely related to the microenvironment. In recent years, many studies focus on the topics, such as the interaction of microenvironment and CSCs,the microenvironmental factors and the regulatory mechanism.CSCs and microenvironment participate in a variety of courses such as tumorigenesis, development, metastasis and recurrence, and play an important role in the process. However, the regulation between CSCs and microenvironment is not completely clear. In this paper,we summarize the current researches on CSCs and microenvironment, and discuss the latest progress on the treatment strategies of malignant tumors based on the microenvironment.Afterwards, theoretical models are constructed to study the dynamics process and reveal the regulatory mechanism between CSCs and the microenvironment. The main results as follows:The dynamic models of dormant CSCs and active CSCs were constructed to deal with various biological problems. The research results imply that the CSC can convert reciprocally between the two states and the CSCq is the key factor to prevent the recurrence of tumor.Considering the microenvironmental factors,it is indicated that the factor of anoxia raises the level of the saturation of the quantity of CSCqs,and enhance the conversion from the CSCas to CSCqs.The revascularization provides a favorable condition for the explosion of CSC and cancer cells quantity, and the restraint of a finite environment can enhance the control to the CSC proliferation.
