Objective:The purpose of this study was to assess the usefulness of PCT and CURB-65,as well as their combination,in assessing the accuracy and prognosis of CAP on the day of admission. To explore the prediction of ICU occupancy rate and in-hospital mortality by the combination of the two tests,so as to accurately evaluate the prognosis of the patients。 Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 64 patients with community-acquired pneumonia treated in respiratory department from October 2019 to January 2020 in our hospital. The selected patients met the CAP diagnostic criteria specified in the 2016 guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of community-acquired pneumonia.PCT level,CURB-65 score,ICU occupancy rate and in-hospital death were collected to further analyze the prognosis of PCT,CURB-65 and their combination. Results:In this study,we compared CURB-65 and PCT among patients with different prognosis. In addition, the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was analyzed to verify the accuracy and practicability of CURB-65,PCT and their combined detection in evaluating the prognosis of CAP patients.1.Of the 64 selected patients,15 received ICU treatment, and 13 died.Among them,5 patients with low score of CURB-65 were admitted to ICU and 2 died;0 patients with negative PCT received ICU treatment and 0 died.2.The area under ROC curve of PCT combined with CURB-65 was higher than that of single index, and the difference was statistically significant.3.The area under ROC curve of PCT and CURB-65 is higher than that of single index, and the difference is statistically significant. Conclusion:PCT combined with CURB-65 can evaluate the severity and short-term prognosis of CAP patients more accurately.
