Objective To investigate the effect of Amentoflavone on polycystic ovary in rats with epilepsy. Methods 40 female SD rats of 8 weeks old were randomly divided into 3 groups: epilepsy model group(n=15),drug intervention group(n=15)and normal control group.Epilepsy model group: modeled with lithium chloride-pilocarpine.Drug group: After the preparation of the model with lithium chloride-pilocarpine,the daily administration of the Amentoflavone 25mg/kg was administered. The control group was a normal female rat.All rats were vaginal exfoliated cell smears every morning to monitor the estrous cycle. The rats with epilepsy were ignited for 30 days, and the serum levels of sex hormones were measured from the right atrium of the rats at the estrous interval. The right ovarian tissue was taken at the same time. The other two groups of rats also took blood test sex hormone levels during the estrus interval and picked them. The right ovarian tissue was taken and pathological sections were made. After HE staining, the images were read under the microscope and analyzed by Image-ProPlus 6.0 analysis software. Results The incidence of estrous cycle disorder in the drug intervention group was lower than that in the epilepsy model group, and the daily average weight gain was also significantly lower than that in the epilepsy model group(P <0.05);the ovary weight was also significantly lower than that in the epilepsy model group(P <0.05).The ovarian area, follicular membrane thickness, preantral follicle number, number of atresia follicles, and total follicles were all decreased compared with the epileptic model group(P <0.05).Conclusion Amentoflavone have protective effects on the occurrence of polycystic ovary in rats with epilepsy.Amentoflavone may reduce the occurrence of epilepsy-induced polycystic ovary by affecting serum hormone levels in rats...
