Objective:To analyze the hidden blood loss and related factors in Intramedullary nail(IMN)used for treatment of tibial shaft fractures. Methods:Totally 81 patients with tibial shaft fractures in our hospital from Jan.2017 to Jan.2019 were selected. All patients were treated with closed reduction IMN internal fixation. The blood loss during the operation was counted and the HBL on the 1d and 3d after operation was calculated. The risk factors were analyzed and screened for gender, age,BMI,fracture classification, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, delayed operation after injury, and duration of surgery. Results:The 1d after operation HBL was 160.43 ± 131.42 ml,accounting for 67.47% of the total blood loss; The 3d after operation HBL was 338.23 ± 85.24 ml,accounting for 81.39% of the total blood loss.Gender,BMI,fracture classification, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension were risk factors for HBL(P <0.05).Conclusion:HBL is the main blood loss after IMN treatment for tibial shaft fractures. Before performing IMN fixation operation for tibial shaft fractures, the general condition of the patient should be evaluated, especially for obese patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension, because more severe HBL problems are more likely to occur after surgery.
