The important impact of socioeconomic status on individual health has been analyzed and verified by many researchers. However, there are still insufficient studies on how socioeconomic status affects individual health. As one of the factors affecting health, social relations are often influenced by the structural factor of social and economic status. Therefore, this paper uses the 2010 CGSS survey data to analyze and test social relations as a mediating effect of social and economic status on individual health. The results show that, after controlling demographic characteristics such as gender and age, social and economic status has a significant positive impact on the subjective and objective health of individuals.Social network has a significant impact on personal health. The closer the social network is,the better the subjective and objective health of the people who can keep close contact with their relatives and friends. However, social support has no significant effect on individual’s objective health.Individuals’ socioeconomic status is conducive to enhancing the close degree of their social relations, that is,the higher their socioeconomic status, the more likely they are to maintain close ties with their relatives and friends, but the total amount of social support they receive is less.Finally,socio-economic status has both direct and indirect effects on population health. The intermediary effect of social network is significant, that is,the social and economic status of an individual has a certain impact on the health status of an individual by affecting the density of his network. However, the mediating effect of social support is not ideal.Social support can only be used as a mediating variable of social and economic status affecting the subjective health of individuals, but it has no significant improvement on the objective health of individuals.
