Objective: To explore the advancement of endoscopy-assisted resection of tumors in parapharyngeal space.Methods: Fifteen patients accepted an operative treatment in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital from Feb,2016 to Feb,2018.We collect the clinical data of these cases,including general information,clinical feature,sign,imaging examination,surgical path,surgical result,surgical complication,prognosis,etc.Twelve cases are endoscopyassisted transcervical approach or transparotid approach.Two cases are endoscopyassisted transoral approach.One cases are endoscopy-assisted associated approach.Results: Tumors of all cases are completely resected.Three cases are primary malignant tumors.Eleven cases are primary benign tumors.The pathological types of these cases include carcinoma,sarcoma,pleomorphic adenoma,neurinoma,Basal cell tumor,carotid body tumor,hemangioma,etc.The diameters of one cases are grater than or equal to 8.0 cm,eleven cases are grater than or equal to 4.5 cm.One case have a carotid artery neoplasty during the operation,four cases have a temporary nerve injury.All cases have no permanent complications,and all cases of primitive parapharyngeal space tumors follow up twelve to thirty-four months have no relapse.Conclusion: Endoscopy-assisted resection of tumors in parapharyngeal space could excise the tumor without mandibular osteotomy.It has a little injury and fewer complications.It is worth to be wide spreaded in clinic.
