Objective To explore the effect of the effect of titanium dioxide nano film to the temperature of tissues around titanium alloy implants in high frequency electromagnetic field of 2450MHz,and the biological effects of local tissues were determined by histology,immunohistochemistry and imaging.Methods The titanium alloy bone plate coated with titanium dioxide nano film was implanted in experiment group,while plate without a titanium dioxide nano film was implanted in control group.Rabbits of each group were irradiated by 40W and60W microwave respectively.The temperature of deep muscles adjacent to the implants were measured by an anti-interference couple thermometer in the mean time.Results The temperature increment of deep muscles adjacent to the titanium alloy implant coated with TiO2 was much lower than those without a titanium dioxide nano film in both 40W and 60W high frequency electromagnetic field of 2450MHz.The titanium dioxide nano film may help reduce the accumulation of energy on the surface of the implants.The temperature rise in 2450MHz,60W high frequency electromagnetic field was basically in the body’s tolerance range.Conclusion It’s basically safe to irradiate the titanium alloy implant coated with TiO2 with a power no more than 60W.And it would not cause a sharp increase in the temperature of tissue around the implant.However the security of a short-course continuous-wave therapy needs to be further discussed.
