Objective : This study mainly discusses the effectiveness of copper mesh combined with ice saline to prevent spinal cord thermal injury.Method: Forty thoracic and lumbar vertebras of pig were used as model of spinal metastasis cancer, which were randomly divided into four groups. The microwave transmitting antenna was inserted into the porcine thoracic vertebra through the pedicle puncture. The microwave power is set to 50 W and the microwave ablation time is set to 180 seconds. The four thermal insulation methods are used in different group: no protection, copper mesh, iced saline lavage and copper mesh combined with iced saline lavage. The real-time temperature of the posterior wall of thoracic vertebra is record by thermo sensors every thirty seconds and statistically analyzed.Result:(1)In the control group, the average real-time temperature of the posterior wall of the vertebral body every 30 seconds was 29.1?,36?,39.3?,48.9?,63.6?,81.1?,83.5?.The average real-time temperature of the control group had exceeded the safe temperature of 45? at 120 s without any way of preventing heat.(2)The average real-time average temperature of the group with copper mesh combined with ice salt water lavage is lower than those of other groups at any time point. And the real-time average temperature was 43.9? at 180 s,which is below safe temperature(45?).(3)The three protective methods of pure copper mesh,ice-saline relationship and copper mesh combined with ice-saline irrigation can slow the rise of real-time temperature the posterior wall.(4)The average temperatures at 180 s between the control group and the other three groups are statistically significantly different(P<0.05).The real-time average temperatures of the posterior wall between the group with ice saline lavage and the group with the copper mesh combined with ice saline lavage are statistically significant different(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)Cooper mesh combined with iced saline lavage is the best method of preventing heat.(2)Compared with the control group, the group with copper mesh don't have thermal insulation effect. The groups with iced saline lavage or copper mesh combined with iced saline lavage show obvious thermal insulation effects.
