With its rapid development,China has become more important in the world and taken more efforts to boost its cultural strength.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is significant part of splendid Chinese culture and an achievement of the people's experiments and exploration in the past thousand years. We can realize internalization of TCM by going global and introducing TCM to the rest of the world.TCM translation is a bridge of its internalization.Scholars and translators find in practice that TCM terminology presents Chinese philosophy and culture, which is difficult to get corresponding words in English. Therefore TCM terminology translation brings challenges for translators, having a bad impact on the TCM exchanges and development. In this context, this translation report will analyze the translation of TCM terminology in the book of A Clinical Handbook of Orthopedics of the Integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine based on the theory that approaches translation as adaption and selection, give better versions and summarize how to use different strategies and methods. This report hopes to provide some references for the better translation of similar texts in the future. This translation report reviews this project from five chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the background and its significance. The second chapter is about the task assignment, computer aided translation tools and text introduction in the translation preparation. The third chapter, important part of the report, mainly reviews the development of the researches and theories on TCM terminology translation and introduces the theory that approaches translation as adaptation and selection. The next chapter of this report, the main part, briefly explains the translation difficulties and solutions and then analyzes how to deal with TCM terminology from the perspective of that theory and other translation questions. The fifth chapter summarizes the project and shortcomings in the project.
