According to the view of Gao Shangren,the calligraphy activities can improve the brain consciousness,which causes "the effect of optimizing brain activation",improving the development of cognitive processing ability to a great extent,especially the capacity of space cognitive.But this view is just in the theory inference phase without being verifying in real examination.AS an essential part in the space cognitive capacity,mental rotation is used as a measurement index of space cognitive ability.This study is divided into two parts,the measurement method is used to study whether there is significant difference of space cognitive capacity between the college students having three-year experience in calligraphy with whom don’t have in one research.Then to further investigate the relationship between the space cognitive capacity and the learning period of calligraphy.The experimental material of the research is referenced from the individual part-visual space capacity test of cognitive literality battery,CLB which is compiled by H.Gordon in 1986.The another research is behavior experiment,including two experiments:One is to investigate priming effect of the calligraphy load、arithmetic load and relaxation training to mental rotation ability in plane figure.The other experiment is to explore priming effect of calligraphy load、arithmetic load and relaxation training to mental rotation ability in three-dimensional figure.The main questions are following:(1)There is whether differences between the college students having three-year calligraphy experience with whom having no experience.(2)The effect of learning years in calligraphy to mental rotation ability.(3)The calligraphy load、arithmetic load and relaxation training,which one has more significant priming effect on mental rotation of college student to plane figure.(4)The calligraphy load、arithmetic load and relaxation training,which one has more significant priming effect on mental rotation of college student to three-dimensional figure.The result:(1)In CLB,the total score of college students having three-year in learning calligraphy is significant higher than whom having no learning experience.(2)The scores of college students with different calligraphy experience are not remarkable different in CLB test.(3)The mental rotation capacity to two-dimensional figure and three-dimensional figure of college students who have three-year experience in calligraphy is more excellentcomparing to whom having no calligraphy experience.(4)There is no significant different in mental rotation ability of college students having different learning experience in calligraphy.(5)The calligraphy load has significant priming effect on mental rotation capacity,either college students having more than three-year calligraphy experience or the students having no experience,and the priming effect is significant on college students having more than three-year calligraphy experience.The relaxation training has no priming effect on mental rotation capacity,neither college students having more than three-year calligraphy experience nor the students having no experience.Arithmetic load is remarkably impair the mental rotation ability of the college students having more than three-year calligraphy experience or the students having no experience.And calligraphy training has more significant priming effect on mental rotation to three-dimensional figure.
