| The United States,the greatest economy in the world,has attracted a lot of attention in politics,economy,culture and other fields.As an important part of its political life,U.S.presidential candidate television debate has become an epitome of US political,economic,and cultural life.The source text for the simulated simultaneous interpreting is the first round of presidential candidate television debate in 2016.The interpreter chooses the first topic area as an example to simulate the process of interpretation.The first topic of the debate is about America’s direction with emphasis on employment.Guided by Syntactic Linearity Principle,the interpreter describes and analyzes the interpreting process and the application of the interpreting strategies such as segmentation,amplification,omission and conversion.The report consists of four chapters: task description,process description,theory and case analysis,and conclusion.The first chapter introduces relevant information of the task.Firstly,it introduces the background of the debate.Then,it describes the requirements of the task.The second chapter deals with the interpreting process,which consists of pre-interpretation,during-interpretation and post-interpretation.The third chapter,as the main body of this report,is about the guidance theory and case analysis.After the introduction of the Syntactic Linearity Principle,it analyzes the application of four interpreting strategies like segmentation,amplification,omission and conversion by giving examples.The conclusion summarizes the main contents and limits of the report as well as the experience gained in the interpreting.The practice of simulated simultaneous interpretation shows that Syntactic Linearity Principle has application value in guiding the interpreting practice. |
