Slumdog Millionaire's fiction and film adaptation is a superficial change in the media.In fact,it reflects India's culture and the construction of India image in the west.The novel text show the social culture of modern India from the perspective of Post-colonialism context,which focuses on the historical heritage and social status of religious identity,elite education,female image and so on.It expressed a "tearing and laughing" face in modern India from the perspective of Post-colonialism context.The filmic text is based on Orientalism to construct the modern India,which is consistent with the western social convention.Through the technical monopoly,entertainment oriented products and other ways to establish India barbaric and backward images.In order to establish correct value and ultimate success,India must identify with Western values and acceptit's leadership.India can only succeed by accepting the western leadership,which created a face of "good and evil" in modern India.The cultural identity and self-identity of the young generation in India are unstable with the influence of internal and external environment.Cultural anxiety is the resistance to the younger generation of India and the modern transformation of India society.The full paper is divided into three parts: Firstly,the introduction part.The author made a brief analysis and commentary of the current research on the novel text to the filmic text of Slumdog millionaire.A brief summary of the development of post colonialism,the object of the study,the characteristics,etc..Basing on the advantages and disadvantages of the existing studies,strengthen the analysis of the novel.For more controversial part of the analysis put forward own understanding.Secondly,main body in the paper is divided into three parts.The first part,based on the narrative analysis of the novel text to the filmic text of Slumdog millionaire.Following narrator,narrative time,narrative levels,prenarrated text/narrated text of the different aspects,and puts forward the defects of the novel text.Pointing out the difference between the text of the novel and the filmic text are restricted by technologies(like word,audiovisual media)and narrative genre.The second part,analysis the image of the replacement of the characters,like the male image of religious syncretism,the male image of Western value discipline,India domestic and foreign male,female image in modern social transformation,Oriental female image stereotypes,India domestic and foreign female images,value demands behind two texts.That is to say,the novel text focus on the reflection of the India society,and the filmic text focus on the construction of India society according to Western imagination.The third part,extending the analysis of the first two parts,arose to the discussion of cultural anxiety.On the one hand connected the social transformation in India with the impact and integration of Western influence,on the other hand,combined the influence of education,media,culture for the younger generation.This paper through technological monopoly,entertainment-oriented,personal growth puts forward the cultural anxiety of the younger generation of India face of social transformation and cultural shock.Thirdly,the paper summarize the whole thesis,rising from the text substitution to the cultural anxiety behind the text,and reflecting the adverse effects of cultural anxiety on the Indian society and the young generation.
