The Formation Of The Distribution Pattern Of The Chinese And Minority Languages In The South Yunnan Dialect Area:A Study Based On Relevant Chorography Since Ming-qing Period

Based on the related chorography in Yunnan since the Ming and Qing dynasties,the thesis discusses the process of the Chinese(Mandarin)entering and interacting with the minority languages in the Southern Yunnan dialect region,then to determine how Yunnan dialect evolved in the area and summarize the formation of linguistic distribution.The paper is structured in three chapters.The first chapter introduces the source and significance of the topic,reviews the research results of the predecessors,and also gives the methodology used in this analysis.The second chapter first introduces the standards of classification in Southern Yunnan dialect and the reason that we choose why the partition is used in this article,and then respectively presents the historical materials focusing on their local linguistic phenomena of the 22 dialects in the Southern Yunnan,from their local chronicles or official history books.This includes the elaboration of their geographical profile,local history,ethnic composition and immigration in every 22 dialect spots since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,in addition to the examination of how Chinese and minority languages spread and used in the region.By comparing each dialects" interaction and contact with Chinese and other minority languages,and analyzing the similarities and differences,these dialects are divided into three different types according to the degree of this contact.The third chapter makes a contrastive analysis of the similarities and differences of language usage between dialects which is mentioned in the second chapter.First of all,this chapter generalizes the formation factors of the Southern Yunnan dialect based on immigration,education,literature,commerce,transportation,etc.in the chorography.Secondly,this chapter analyses the influence of minority language on Chinese during the formation of Southern Yunnan dialect according to the related chorography.Then on the basis of the two period,Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China,the Republic of China to the present,the development of the Southern Yunnan dialect in each region are divided into three types,that is,the dialect region dominated by minority languages,the bilingual dialect region in which people use both Chinese and minority languages and the dialect region that basically turns to Chinese,that also reflect the diachronic development trend during the formation of the Southern Yunnan dialect through the differences in the same historical period.On the basis of the ancient and modern local literature,the whole paper integrating the scattered Chinese and minority language contact data conclude the formation and development of the Southern Yunnan dialect with a philology view,which can provide evidence for linguistic related phenomena.
