The Impacts Of Teenagers Family Function,Materialism On Impulsive Buying

Materialism prevalent in today’s society,teenagers appear more and more consumer issues.Impulsive buying is a common phenomenon in many consumption behaviors,good family function has influence on problem teen’s good behavior habits.In this study,we will research the relationship of family function,materialistic values,impulsive buying and the impacts of teenagers family function,materialism on impulsive buying.This paper can help parents understand the importance of family function,help teenagers to set up correct consumption view and values,and also provide theoretical basis for school mental health education.This paper reviews and organizes relevant literature,and on the basis of that,makes a brief summary and evaluation for former research results.Then in Hubei and Henan selected 940 students as the study sample.Research tools including the Demographic Questionnaire,Family Function Assessment Scale(FAI-CV),Materialism Values Scale(MVS-C),Barrat Impulsiveness Scale(BIS-Ⅱ-CV).The collected data were analyzed by Spss19.0 software and Amos17.0 software.The results of the study are as follows:(1)Among the teenagers’ family functions,the parents concerned and parental control subscales are significant difference on different genders.The relationship subscale,communication subscale and family function scores are significant difference on different grades and ages The relationship,communication,conflict and harmony,parents concerned subscales and family function scores are significant difference on different family structure.The communication subscale and family function score are significant difference on different family economic situation.(2)The success subscale of teenagers’ materialism values is significant difference on different genders.The happy subscale is significant difference on different family structure,family economic status and being only-child or not.The center subscale,the happiness subscale and materialistic scores are significant difference on different grades and ages.(3)The attention impulsivity,unplanned impulsivity and impulse buying subscales of the teenagers’ impulsive buying behavior are significant difference on different grades,ages and the family economic situation.(4)Teenagers’ all subscales of family function significantly positive correlated with all subscales of materialism.The higher the level of family function,the lower the materialism.Among them,the communication subscale has greatest influence on teenagers’ materialism.(5)Teenagers’ all subscales of family function significantly positive correlated with all subscales of impulsive buying behavior.The higher the level of family function,the lower the impulsive buying behavior.Among them,the parental control subscale has greatest influence on teenagers’ impulsive buying.(6)Teenagers’ all subscales of materialism significantly positive correlated with all subscales of impulsive buying behavior.The higher the level of materialism,the more prone to impulsive buying behavior.Among them,the happy subscale has greatest influence on teenagers’ impulsive buying.(7)Teenagers family function plays a regulatory role in materialism and impulsive buying behavior.According to research findings,this paper puts forward three suggestions:(1)Family members should attach great importance to the family function.(2)Schools should strengthen teenagers’ mental health education.(3)Families and schools should work together to create a favorable environment for teenagers.
