| As we stress the importance of Quality Education,nowadays,it is salutary to apply Layered Teaching strategies to English composition teaching.The Layered Teaching is the presentation of arrangements in the setting of teaching aims,application of teaching methods,instruction in class and design of after-class exercise during the teaching process,so as to make students of different levels learn more on acceptable levels.Abiding by the rule of ‘Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude’ and the theory of Proximal Development Zone,as well as Humanistic Theory,the writer applies the Layered Teaching strategies to senior high school English composition teaching to explore whether it will increase the senior students’ interest in English composition and if yes,what effect it will have on the interest of the students on different English levels;whether it will increase the grades of the senior students’ English compositions and if yes,what effect it will have on the composition grades of the students on different English levels;whether it will increase the grades of the senior students’ English and if yes,what effect it will have on the English grades of the students on different English levels.To verify the effect of the applying of Layered Teaching strategy in English teaching of senior high school,the writer conducted a comparative study,lasting about half a year,on two parallel science classes.The layered teaching model is applied in the experimental class,comparatively,the traditional teaching model is applied in the control class.Through the layers arranging in experiment objects,teaching objectives,class teaching,homework and etc.,the conclusion of the study,which draws from the questionnaire of students in the experimental class and the front,middle,post period tests,together with the talk with English teachers,the analysis and comparison of statistics,shows that the using of Layered Teaching model in class can increase senior students’ interest in English composition.To be specific,the writing interest of the students who aren’t good at English study has been writing improved dramatically,while those who are good at it least.Secondly,the application of LT model in class can increase senior students’ writing grades and the writing grades of those who aren’t good at English writing have been improved dramatically,while those who are good at it least.Thirdly,the application of LT model in class can increase senior students’ English grades and the grades of those who aren’t good at English writing have been improved dramatically,while those who are good at it least.To summarize,the advantages of the application of the Layered Teaching in English classes in senior high school are obvious,thus,this English teaching model is worth the warm welcoming of high school English teachers.However,due to the fact that the time and the objects’ number of this experiment is limited,this study has its own limits.Therefore,the author’s next experiment is aimed at the study of how to apply the Layered Teaching model to the whole grade,even to the whole school and how to improve the writing skills of the gifted students. |
