In recent years, along with the development of communication and cooperation between China and the West, various Western academic works and scientific research essays have been introduced into China. How to translate these English academic texts into Chinese and introduce them to domestic scholars for analysis and reference is of practical significance. However,at present, there are not enoough research about academic text translation in China. Many Chinese translations still need to be improved, and the terminology is unclear or even incorrect sometimes. It not only brings difficulties to the target audience to understand the texts, but also impairs the communication between China and foreign countries. Thus we translators are obliged to take on the challenge.Guided by Newmark's communicative-translation theory, this translation report selects the translation of the fourth chapter of Explain Culture Scientifically as a case study.Through analysis,it is concluded that translation of words, especially terms, should be determined based on the logic of the sentence, the context or even the whole text;for the long sentences with corfiplex structure, sentences should firstly besplit into small clauses and then translated according to the expressive habits of Chinese;translators should always take the need of readers of the target language into consideration, pay attention to the differences of cohesion devices between English and Chinese, and make adjustments when necessary.
