English learning,not only has been studied by researchers for a long time,but been considered by English teachers and widely experienced by students.It is pointed out by Krashen that learners' language acquisition is influenced by affect,while foreign language learning anxiety is one of the quite prominent affect variables.After reviewing related literature,it is identified that researches are primarily focused on higher education.It is a pity that few studies are implemented on the senior three students of Beichuan high school in Qiang nationality area.The paper is to analyze senior three students' general anxiety status in the process of English learning,and the causes of students' anxiety in Beichuan High School.FLCAS,that is,Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale and interview were applied to achieve the goal.89 Senior Three students in Beichuan high school were selected as participants to analyze their levels of English learning anxiety and sources of their foreign language anxiety.The result and analysis of data in SPSS19.0 are shown below:1.Currently senior three students' English learning anxiety is relatively high.43.82 percent of the students experience high anxious feelings in English learning.The participants' mean score of the FLCAS is 118.12.2.Students of different English proficiency experience different levels of English learning anxiety.Students in low proficiency group have relatively higher anxious feelings than students in moderate and high proficiency group in English learning.3.Students of different genders experience different levels of anxiety in English learning.Male students are more anxious than female students.Male students experience more anxiety in test anxiety,with fear of negative evaluation ranking the second,and communication apprehension ranking the third.For female students,communication apprehension provoke more anxiety,with fear of negative evaluation the second,and test anxiety the third.4.Students of Qiang nationality experience greater anxiety than students of Han nationality in English learning.For students of Han nationality,communication apprehension is more anxiety-arousing,followed by fear of negative evaluation,with test anxiety the third.For students of Qiang nationality,fear of negative evaluation exerts more anxiety,with communication apprehension ranking the second,and test anxiety the third.5.According to the data analysis of interview of students,internal and external factors cause students' anxiety in English learning.External factors mainly include geographical feature,economy status,and competition among students,high expectations from the family and society,frequent and overemphasized English examinations,English learning atmosphere,teacher's evaluation methods.Internal factors mainly include students' personality,learning attitude,self-esteem and nationality difference,and psychological development.Based on above,some suggestions beneficial to reduce anxiety are proposed.However,further studies are quite necessary.
