The development of Chinese fairy tales is later than that of the West. For China, fairy tales are “imported”.When Western fairy tales matured,China “discovered children”.As a pioneer of independent creation of Chinese fairy tales,Ye Shengtao has a very high status in the development of Chinese children's literature. However, the development of Chinese literary fairy tales began with the upsurge of translation and introduction of Western fairy tales. Therefore,at the beginning of Ye Shengtao's fairy tales,he was actually influenced by foreign masters of fairy tales and had multiple sources of influence, such as the Brothers Grimm and Andersen.Ai Luo Xian,Wilde and so on.Oscar Wilde is one of the important sources.Wilde,as a representative figure of British fairy tales, has a pivotal position in the history of fairy tale literature. He wrote only nine fairy tales in his life, but each one is an exquisite article, which plays a role in the creation of new and different novels.Under the constraints of the era context,Wilde's fairy tales became the main source of influence for Ye Shengtao's fairy tale “scaresmanism” because it met the requirements of the development of Chinese society at that time and adapted to the expectations of the literary creation of the time. However, due to differences in his life experience, personal beliefs, and differences between Chinese and Western cultures,Ye Shengtao clearly demonstrated his differences with Wilde's fairy tales in the creation of fairy tales and demonstrated his unique style..This thesis is divided into three chapters. It elaborates Ye Shengtao's and Oscar Wilde's fairy tales in many ways, and discovers the characteristics of their own fairy tales creation in the context of influence. The first chapter mainly introduces the development history of fairy tales and the causes of Ye Shengtao and Wilde's creation of fairy tales. It helps to strengthen the understanding of the two's creative thoughts and creative content. The second chapter starts with Ye Shengtao's absorption and acceptance of Wilde's fairy tales and explores them. The similarity in terms of content, form, and method of creation, etc.;the last chapter analyzes the differences in the creation of fairy tales from two aspects of the concept of creation and intention of creation, and better understands what they have done for the development of fairy tales.Contributions.The study of Ye Shengtao's fairy tales creation from external references can further grasp the origin and evolution of fairy tales in our country, and help to sort out the history of Chinese fairy tales creation accepting foreign influences, and make up for the deficiencies of the comparative study of Chinese and Western children's literature.Improve the history of Chinese fairy tales.Due to the late start of Chinese literary fairy tales,by comparing with Western masters of fairy tales,we can find many glimmering points that should be followed by children's literary scholars and the deficiencies that should be noted, thus giving new inspiration to modern children's writers and creating more. Many fairy tales that meet children's psychology and children's aesthetic understanding and are suitable for children's reading make Chinese fairy tales mature.
