English reading has long been regarded as the core and main body of English teaching,especially in the period of senior high schools.It is viewed as the main source and approach of language input and English knowledge accumulation.It is also an indispensable tool to cultivate students' other English abilities,such as speaking and writing.The new edition of the National Curriculum Standards for English Teaching requests the students to possess comprehensive English reading ability.It includes the ability of texts comprehension and the ability of language decoding.The ability of students' information receiving,disposing,analyzing and problem-solving is also emphasized in Standards.However,English teachers in senior high schools nowadays put their emphasis on the explanation and imparting of English grammar and word knowledge.They habitually divide an integrated text into relatively independent sentences overlooking students' cultivation of text analysis and independent reading ability,which leads to the phenomenon that students always emphasize the understanding to each sentence and neglect the overall text structure.The original reading teaching model cannot meet the requests of the new curriculum standards.It is necessary to do researches on how to carry out English reading courses more effectively in senior high schools.This is why the writer conducts the research.In the research,the writer tries to explore the answers to the following questions: 1)How does the writer carry out the text-analysis-based reading teaching method with the guidance of text analysis? 2)How does the text-analysis-based reading teaching impact students' reading ability? 3)What are the impacts of the text-analysis-based reading teaching model on students' reading attitude and interests? Then the writer starts an experiment under the guidance of scientific research method.The research methods the writer adopts are mainly tests and questionnaires.The tests are conducted to examine the change of students' reading ability.The questionnaires are used to know the students' attitude and interest to the new English reading teaching method.The experiment takes three months.The writer chooses one of her class as experimental class(EC)and the other one as control class(CC).In EC,the writer adopts text-analysis-based English reading teaching method and the traditional teaching method in CC.After the experiment,the writer makes an analysis towards the data she gathers from the experiment.The results indicate that the English reading ability of EC is slightly higher than the one in CC.It also shows that the attitude of students in EC to English reading is changed and their interest in English reading is gradually cultivated.
