Nowadays, with the increasingly in-depth medical communication and collaboration between China and other countries,a fact remains that medical interpreting market has been expanding at home without standardization and formalization.Even though the difficulty of medical Consecutive Interpreting(CI)is not as great as Simultaneous Interpreting(SI),there are some translation errors, including omission, mistranslation and incoherent expression during the process of CI.Danica Seleskovitch,a French professor, puts forward the idea that translation is interpretation, dividing it into three parts—interpretation, deverbalization and reformulation. She figures out that in order to finish the CI properly and smoothly, interpreters must be faithful to the intention of speakers and clear about the expressions of target language, and then adopt appropriate translation strategies that audiences can understand.Only in this way can the quality of CI be guaranteed.Guided by the interpretive theory, this paper presents the incorrect and successful cases during the two interpreting practices at Kaifeng Center Hospital. It analyzes the cases based on the Interpretation Triangle Model, and accordingly offers methods to improve the interpreting skills for future practice.
