On The Agreement Phenomena In Qiang Dialect Of Mawo Region

As a branch of Sino-Tibetan language family,Qiang language has its own unique characteristics.Qiang language consists of southern dialects and northern dialects.The southern Qiang language is represented by Taoping dialect and the northern Qiang language is represented by Mawo dialect,which plays an important role in the research process of Qiang language.It was recorded that the related studies about the Qiang language emerged in the 1930's.Many researchers pay much attention to the different dialects of Qiang language and have made a large number of achievements.As a matter of fact,a lot of syntactic structures and agreement phenomena can be found in Qiang dialect of Mawo region.However,these agreement phenomena are rarely discussed in the previous literature.In order to have a comprehensive understanding on Qiang dialect of Mawo region,it is really necessary to explore the agreement phenomena.Therefore,this thesis will be based on two research questions:i)If the agreement phenomena do exist in Qiang dialect of Mawo region,what are they?ii)Why are there differences among these agreement phenomena in Qiang dialect of Mawo region?Firstly,this thesis rearranges and summarizes the agreement phenomena in Qiang dialect of Mawo region.There are four kinds of agreement phenomena: subject-verb agreement,object-verb agreement,attribute of subject-verb agreement and attribute of object-verb agreement.At the same time,I will apply related syntactic theories of Mark Baker to interpret them,namely,tense is the usual locus of subject agreement and v the usual locus of object agreement.Secondly,I will use some examples to present the reasons for differences among these agreement phenomena in Qiang dialect of Mawo region.There are four reasons which make these agreement phenomena different: affix changes of predicates,the use of different auxiliary words,the use of supplementary elements and specific stipulations in Qiang dialect of Mawo region.In this thesis,I will focus on these phenomena and reasons.The result is not only helpful for comprehending the agreement phenomena in Qiang dialect of Mawo region,but also good for furthering the syntactic study on Qiang language and providing beneficial enlightenments for the research of minority language.
