Carved wooden boards in China has undergone thousands of years of history,until today.Due to its exquisite carving skills,those wood carving are feasting for eyes.Because of its own historical accumulation,it also embodies more research value.While observed from a point of view of Communication Semiotics,the carved wooden boards are regarded as a generalized media of communication,and the images on the carved wooden boards are both symbol and information.According to Hall’s"encoding-decoding" theory.Firstly,the article interprets the symbol of wood carved flower plate from the perspective of symbolic decoding.According to the perspectives of figural similarity,pronunciation correspondence,meaning similarity,and textual expression,the content of wood carving flower board symbols is divided into needs of survival,needs of affiliation,and needs of self-realization,hence to interpret the traditional cultural meaning of the symbols on the carved wooden boards,while analyzing the social needs of different classes,the aesthetic needs of different ages,and their function of social education reflected in the symbol of carved wooden plates.To better spread the culture of the carved wooden plates.From the decoding point of view,starting from the principle of basic propagation of symbols,the paper analyzes the propagation modes of woodcarving flower plate symbols in different eras,namely,hegemonic propagating in ancient times,negotiating propagating in modern times,and adversarial propagating at the present.To better convey the culture on the carved wooden board,the "aberration" in the confrontational decoding must be applied.Through modern virtual digital technology and cultural innovation consumption methods,the culture on the wood carving board can be better inherited.
