Research On Composition Of Li Keran's Landscape Painting

In the concept of traditional painting theory,"operational position","layout",“art of composition",and "structure" are the alternative wording of Chinese landscape painting composition.Among them,"operational position" is one of the most important parts of Xie He's "Six Laws." Since then,the position of composition in Chinese painting has become increasingly important.To create a landscape painting,the first to be mastered is composition.Once the harmony and unity of the picture are broken,there will be no artistic conception any longer,which however is usually viewed as the presentation of the mood of artists.Li Keran,known as the "father of modern landscape painting of China",is one of the transformation representatives of Chinese traditional landscape painting into modern landscape painting in the 20 th century.He not only followed the “aboveboard atmosphere” of the Song Dynasty landscape painting,but also innovatively created “Li-style landscape”.In his creation,he always paid attention to the practical experience of outdoor sketching,and meanwhile changed the rules of traditional theory on “deep and distant,flat and distant,high and distant” by adding the creation methods of Western painting and integrating the expression styles of Chinese and Western landscape painting.The perfect combination of traditional Chinese painting's freehand brushwork and Western painting's realism has broken the inherent imagery performance forms of traditional Chinese painting,presenting a unique composition pattern of aesthetic landscape painting,namely “Li-style landscape”.This kind of composition of landscape painting serves as an important link of his creation of artistic conception.However,the innovation of composition lies in the core of landscape painting innovation,breaking the original creation laws and methods and thereby bringing a new look to modern landscape painting.Taking Li Keran's landscape painting composition as research object,this thesis gives an overview of his landscape painting holistically with the help of the existing literature and research results.Combining Li Keran's existing Chinese landscape paintings,this thesis conducts in-depth analysis and compares him with contemporary Zhang Jian and Luo Ming in terms of painting composition.In addition,this thesis takes the background of his time into consideration,and conducts a specific analysis and comparison of Li Keran with the painters who went to Jiangnan together with him for sketching in terms of the composition features of landscape painting.
