As one of the basic language knowledge,grammar plays a very important role in Second Language Acquisition(SLA).How to carry out grammar teaching effectively has attracted the attention of scholars both at home and abroad.In recent years,scholars at home and abroad have done some researches on the effect of Processing Instruction and Meaning-based Output Instruction,but the results haven't reached agreement.Few studies have been made on the acquisition of Second Language Acquisition(SLA)in Chinese junior middle school students.Therefore,based on previous studies,this paper further studies the effect of Processing Instruction and Meaning-based Output Instruction in junior middle school English grammar teaching.This thesis takes the junior middle school students as the experiment subject and the following two research questions were discussed:(1)Which one is more effective in learning the present perfect tense,Processing Instruction(PI)or Meaning-based Output Instruction(MOI)?(2)Which one can better stimulate the students' grammar learning interests,Processing Instruction(PI)or Meaning-based Output Instruction(MOI)?In order to solve the above two research questions,the study took 77 students from two classes in grade eight of Xinzhai middle school as the research subject,and carried out an experimental study for 6weeks.In the teaching process,one class uses Processing Instruction and the other class uses Meaning-based Output Instruction.In order to examine learners' acquisition of target grammar,an experimental design with a pre-test,immediate post-tests,delayed post-test and questionnaire sequence was adopted.The results showed that in the process of grammar learning,Meaning-based Output Instruction is superior to Processing Instruction,and it can better stimulate students' interests of grammar learning.The research results provide some implications for junior middle school English grammar teaching: In the process of teaching,teachers should teach students effective grammar learning method and attach importance to the stimulation of students' interest in grammar learning.
